Cheers captain, are you (or anyone else) able to describe easiest way to access the element? or if not familar with this particular model whats the most common method of accessing element, i.e do I somehow attack it from inside the drum, or around the back or what? Again, thanks in anticipation.

Any easy way to remove bra-wire from drum? (Hoover HSWF 167)

Hi all, fairly common problem I'm sure, unfortunately nothing protruding through drum holes and have took ring off rubber door gator but no gap to access. Any ideas apart from taking the drum out? All works ok but grating noise comes and goes so having to baby-sit it through washes for time...

Top cover for Indesit IWC6165 - any other equivalents?

Hi all, had a boiler drop ontop of washing machine (when taking out) and broke top panel. Looks like plastic but can see as it's broken that it's just a very thin slice of chipboard inside a plastic trim/surround. It's not practical to try a repair and feel obliged to replace like for like...

    Space under stairs

thanks redherring, I uploaded a pic but its also got used as my profile :? dunno what the confusion is about "boxing in", if it's not a concrete floor then it would be plain daft not to move/change it IMO, and ideas about leaving it in situ make me imagine a poor looking result thats all...

    Space under stairs

Why has no one said MOVE the bleedin' radiator??? lol.. or if thats a chore (e.g. if concrete floor) put a smaller double-panel one in? :) Fairly simple and low cost job for which 2"x 2" timber (typically 47mm x 47mm in new money) would suffice along with a couple of 8'x4' plasterboards...

How do I position extra joists to raise a loft floor

Sounds a strange thing to do (to me)? Why would you need to add joists just to add insulation? Does the loft area already have a habitable room up there, or need to support a "proper" floor? From timber sizes you've quoted sounds like a fairly new place, but regardless if there are any...

Combi Boiler Hot Water not so hot... help please.

Hi Dougie, our Vaillant combi has separate rotary control knobs for the hot water and heating (as would most boiler I would think?). Why not simply pull off the knobs and swap them over to test it? If the knobs don't pull off easy surely you must still be able to turn the broken knob by...
