    Biasi M90.28S Intermittent Hot Water

Ok, thanks for reply. I'll leave the boiler for now as it's currently working ok but in case the problem recurs I was interested to know if it's normal for the flow switch pin to push less for HW than for CH. I didn't investigate the pump impeller because it's common to both CH and HW and the...

    Biasi M90.28S Intermittent Hot Water

Had another try at fixing the boiler today. Stripped the diverter valve and fitted repair kit BI1141501 and new diaphragm BI1011103. Also fitted new dhw heat exchanger. The boiler now works ok on CH and HW modes but I'm not convinced it's fully fixed. In CH mode the flow switch pin pushes out...

    Biasi M90.28S Intermittent Hot Water

OK thanks again Tony. I've already given the left hand block a good clean but I'll have another look at the weekend. Iain

    Biasi M90.28S Intermittent Hot Water

Thanks for quick response. Am I right in thinking that the flow block you refer to is the dhw heat exchanger? I could fit a new one at reasonable cost to get the dhw working reliably then my daughter can think about a replacement boiler, power flush and filter. The current boiler is 13 years...

    Biasi M90.28S Intermittent Hot Water

This boiler was run for several years with a leak in the underfloor pipework and DHW was operating intermittently. The leak was fixed and the system flushed several times before adding inhibitor and all worked OK for about 6 months. Now the intermittent DHW fault has returned. The DHW will...

    whirlpool ADG 7560 854275515879 dishwasher

Heat up the solder joint at one end of the reed switch to soften the solder then lever the leadwire out of the solder using a small screwdriver. Do the same for the other end to remove the old reed switch. Ideally you should then remove all the old solder using de-solder braid or a solder...

    whirlpool ADG 7560 854275515879 dishwasher

Update: After the machine failed then fixed itself a few more times I replaced the reed switch and all is now well. Actually the glass case of the original reed switch was cracked allowing a small amount of movement of the switch contacts which caused the intermittent fault.

Low pressure in Kitchen Hot Water Tap; Solution=Shower pump?

I read this thread recently (Dec 2011) when researching solutions to low hot water pressure in the kitchen. I have now fitted a Grundfos UPA15-90 Water Pressure Home Booster Pump in the hot pipe under the kitchen sink. This has increased the hot water flow from the monobloc mixer tap from 4.4...

    whirlpool ADG 7560 854275515879 dishwasher

Thanks for really useful post. I had the same problem with my Whirlpool ADP 4404/5 dishwasher. After failing with 7 flashes of the green LED and then fixing itself a few times it developed into a hard fault and I decided to investigate. The reed switch in this machine is located in the same...

Boosting Hot Water Pressure in New Home with Gravity Fed Sys

I don't think a gravity fed hot water system is necessarily a bad thing. The boiler will be simpler and most likely more reliable than a combi and you will be able to have a full cylinder of hot water for multiple baths, showers etc. With a combi the flow rate of the mains pressure water has...

I want to improve my gravity fed hot water by adding a pump

Ron, I agree with you on the 2 stage approach which will save you some time and effort if it all works first time. I also have a Gloworm boiler with 4 connections and didn't have any problems. I chose a pump with 5m head (DAB EVO VA55/130 from BES Mail Order), set the speed to minimum and...

I want to improve my gravity fed hot water by adding a pump

Ron, I agree with ironman. Fit 22mm motorised valves to the hot water and heating circuits as per the S-Plan and connect the pump lives to the brown wires of the respective valves. You will need 28mm to 22 mm couplers to connect the 22mm valve into the 28mm hot water circuit. I was...

I want to improve my gravity fed hot water by adding a pump

Ron, It's difficult to comment on your system without knowing the full details of plumbing, controls and wiring. The common system for control of pumped heating and gravity hot water is the Honeywell C-Plan. You can download the leaflet with the wiring diagram here...

I want to improve my gravity fed hot water by adding a pump

The system you describe is the Honeywell C-Plan (Pumped heating and Gravity Hot Water with Cylinder Stat and Valve) modified by adding a pump in the Hot Water return. D_Hailsham in his post on Jan 23 has included the wiring diagram for the C-Plan. If you add a pump to the Hot Water return...

    Box section garage roof problem

I have the same problem with condensation on the underside of the corrugated asbestos cement flat roof of my garage every winter. From my experience and research the condensation is inevitable. The asbestos sheets have a textured surface which allows them to hold a certain amount of...

I want to improve my gravity fed hot water by adding a pump

After reading the positive comments above from JohnD I decided to add a pump to the DHW cylinder primary return on my C-Plan system to improve the hot water recovery time. This became necessary after fitting a power shower. The pump was fitted between the primary return connection to the...
