Thanks Stivino, this will help a lot. I should have also said, the shed is already built and is about 1m x 1.5m and very lightweight. Second thoughts, if I was to use just the railway sleepers as my base (i.e bolt the shed onto them), would I need to put down a base or sub-base under them?

I want to lay some paving slabs for a base for a small tin shed. I have an area marked out but will need to build the level. For this I had an idea to use some old railway sleepers with a layer of soil on top. Will this work? Is there any point in laying slabs straight on to soil? I was also...
