    New combi sizing - overspecced??!

We're called Rattlesnake Jake. Mostly trad Soul, bit of Northern soul, some Chicago blues and couple of funk tracks. Mainly weddings and corporate but some pubs and clubs too. Just had a 3 week lay-off due to holidays and the like. First one back tonight, it's a sell out and I'm itching to play.

Hi TCC. I play bass in a Soul band. I'll sort some links if you're interested.

    Gas-Torch recommendation(s)

I've always used a Super Fire 2, usually with Mapp, and never found a reason to try anything different. Also excellent for lighting BBQs.

I reckon you'd be away with a mixer but I'll bow to Dan's superior knowledge.

    New combi sizing - overspecced??!

A stop gap solution would be to install a thermostatic mixer shower, pipe the shower cold feed to the main and fit a single impeller pump on the hot. Yes it would be noisy and you'd empty your cylinder pretty quickly but it would give you much better shower performance. You could also fit a...

    New combi sizing - overspecced??!

I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong but if you're getting 18ltr per min at the cold mains fed bath tap it would suggest it's pipework/restrictions that are resulting in your poorer flow rates elsewhere rather than what's actually coming into the house.

    New combi sizing - overspecced??!

There are pros and cons to every system. I play in a very busy band and I like to be able to have a shower if I want one if I get in at 3am. You can empty a smaller unvented cylinder pretty quickly. Whichever combi you go for (if you do indeed go for a combi) you'll need to up the gas. If you go...

Couldn't you just get a smaller shower head?

    New combi sizing - overspecced??!

I know I was shot down last time I said it but a combi really will be your most cost effective option imho. I don't think you'll get the benefits of an UV cyl given your current incoming main even with the upgraded pipe. You could always add a small unvented cylinder to do the bathrooms at a...

    Vaillant diverter valve Improved design?

The point you seem unwilling to see is that everyone who has replied ultimately has YOUR best interests at heart. On the Homeserve cover; time how long the engineer is in your house for. 20mins tops I guarantee it. Do you really think they'll carry the gaskets with them? These guys are probably...

Please help me understand my problem and what I can do about it!!

Which boilers modulate below 6KW (combi or system)? Again, not a challenge but a question. Do you not think it worthwhile to range rate the high output of a combi to suit the requirements of the system? I understand that low levels of circa 3KW could be desirable, but to my knowledge, are not at...

Should have read boiler can still modulate down but not up past new set limit. For example 7 to 15kw for heating. Still 34kW for hot water.

It's the last I'll say on the matter before Muggles tells me off again. Boiler has 34KW DHW output max and 30KW heating output max at factory settings. Max heating output can be matched to system requirement (let's say, for example 50% = 15KW). Boiler can still modulate down but not past the new...

Read what I actually wrote. It was a question. I wasn't suggesting it would work. Grab some cocoa and breathe dadio. I've never used one and I don't particularly like the idea. I asked if anyone else had. I didn't know what flow rate they provide as I've never been sufficiently interested or had...
