Height of CWS tank above cylinder in loft

Hi again. Yes, I was careful to make sure I got a double ended pump, and all of the cold taps and toilets etc are currently on the mains water supply, but I'm now running the hot and cold pumped supply to the showers and bath (2 showers, one bath) It's a 100 gallon cold water tank...

Height of CWS tank above cylinder in loft

Thanks all for the advice I had a little trouble posting the link to the flange I'll be using but it's here http://www.screwfix.com/p/salamander-s-flange-22mm/76906 The supply to the pump will be from the special outlet from the flange, and I'll take the vent pipe up from the normal...

Height of CWS tank above cylinder in loft

Thanks both for the replies. Actually, I've gone for an open vented cylinder, and the pump is going AFTER the cylinder. I'm slightly concerned that if the water in the tank drops too far, then the water in the vent pipe will also be low, and this might mean air being sucked into the pump...

Height of CWS tank above cylinder in loft

Hi guys, I'm looking for some reassurance I think with this one! I'm in the process of upgrading cylinder, cws tank, and have just installed a brand new 100gallon polytank in the loft, and am intending to put the cylinder underneath when it arrives on Tuesday. The tank is right up into the...

Moving Hot Water cylinder into loft space / solar cylinder

Hi, Thanks for the reply. The mains pressure in the area is not great - in fact it's as much as the water can do to haul itself up into the loft and trickle into the cold water storage tank. That's why I'm going to fit the biggest tank I can get (100 gallons) and use a pump!

Moving Hot Water cylinder into loft space / solar cylinder

Hello guys, I'm about to undertake quite an ambitious job but I think it will be worth it in the end. Apologies if this turns out to be a long post. We live in a big old victorian semi, which has been knocked about a lot - it was two flats at one point, and a residential home in the past...

    House with two boilers!

Thanks for the advice guys! Just to lead on from what you said - if the pipework looks ok is it still ok to use it? Even if it's quite old? Impossible to determine the exact age but does copper pipe have a lifespan? Is it worth flushing it out? I don't expect that the correct procedures have...

    House with two boilers!

Hello Everyone This is my first post so I thought I'd start with something simple (not!) We've just moved into a 100year old house which has been knocked about considerably. 20 years ago it was two flats, with separate heating and electricity systems, then it was an old peoples' home for a...
