Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

Fingers crossed. I contacted the solicitor on the day the plumber was out (day 3) and so the process was set in motion on time I think. It's just the slowness of the plumber to send me out any written reports that was bothering me. Hopefully all will get going once i get this estimate sent to me

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

I had my plumber (pirie and hunter) round within 3 days of getting the keys (would have been earlier but it was the weekend!) They emailed me a report stating the problems with the leaking CO etc etc but after several requests for a paper copy I gave up and contacted BG, who then came round...

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

Cold water tank /hot water storage tank is no use to anyone as my boiler is disconnected and therefore there is no hot water to heat. If I get the recommended combi boiler this tank will be no longer needed anyway. The cooker was disconnected when he found the fault

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

Scottish Gas came out on Friday. Boiler has been condemned, irrepairable and my gas supply has been cut off. Guy coming to give me a quote for a new one tomorrow. Thanks for everyone who has given CONSTRUCTIVE feedback on this. Will see how it goes, the solicitor has now got all the reports...

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

First up, HE is a SHE Secondly, I DO have the clause in my contract. Hence I am doing all of this. And hence I mentioned about 20 posts back that my contract stated I have 5 days to get the system checked out Also, the hot water storage tank has a basin under it, along with a note saying...

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

This what my stepdad said last night (that it should be capped, tagged etc) so I'm going to see about getting someone to do that if they won't. No paperwork as of yet and I am chasing them up for it as I need it to give to the solicitor. Argh I just want to move in, this is all that's holding...

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

From what I gather, which again could be wrong as I'm far from a plumber, the system still powers up, heats water, does its thing. But whilst doing so, this gasket problem means the CO in the room builds up. Therefore I'm not allowed to turn it on. Does that make sense? My brain is mush...

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

Yep, this is what I'm trying to get across to the solicitor - the plumber has forbidden me from turning the system on, due to the gasket being missing and therefore the danger from CO. It is therefore not in a safe condition to use. Although solicitor being a solicitor took the fact that it...

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

Cool, thanks. Will speak to plumbers about it if and when I get hold of them. They're yet to give me a written quote etc and I really need it asap. Nightmare to get hold of

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

http://www.caesar-howie.co.uk/buy-a-home/guides-faqs/buying-a-house-in-scotland.php There's a bit at the bottom about it. It's usually if the survey meant the system couldn't be checked at the time of inspection. I'm guessing if it had been checked they would just have knocked a bit off the...

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

If that's the case, great. But the plumber really didn't sound very hopeful of finding a part? Try another plumber?

Seller's responsibilities for dodgy central heating?

It said on the survey "the central heating system was not checked but is believed to be very old and therefore the buyer is advised to get it checked within 5 days..." yadda yadda... So it was pretty non descript really. I have been advised by several people that I know that the seller...
