    Strange bang :)

We had similar issue. Washing machine made a loud bang a few times when running. Then one day it made several loud bangs, so I shut it down and pulled the plug. Thinking it was the washer we left it unplugged but the next day when the dishwasher was running, more bangs. Pulled the plug on...

    What are these??

Header tank is full and the float valve is working. Checked the air seperator and it's kinda sticking with a magnet. I say kinda as it's a super strong neodymium magnet and if I stick it to steel it bites down hard, whereas on the seperator it's very lightly attracted and can hold it's own...

    What are these??

Wow - that was easy! Now to Google them and see what they do!!. EDIT: OK - so the air seperator I'm guessing is not doing it's job if it sounds like there is air in the there constantly, and the manual air vent..... doesn't appear to do anything. I can take it completely off, no air...

Hi All, Can anyone tell me what these parts are? I'm the generally nosey type that likes to know how stuff in my house works, and I understand what most of the system is doing, but I have know idea what these are. Google is not much help as "funny T shaped pipe with a screw top going...

Is there an X10 type system that will.....

I think it's the cabling that's the issue. Basically, he's having an extension built to the side of the house, 1 story. He wants the lights to run across the soffit in the extension across into the soffit of the porch. The porch has a lantern in the wall and the electrician said he would wire...

Is there an X10 type system that will.....

Not sure where you think I'm complaining - and as I posted a link to something that does match what he needs shows I did look. Thanks to you for your pointer, whilst it wasn't what was required it did help find what I needed where using Google had already failed.

Is there an X10 type system that will.....

Ah, didn't know about RF stuff, being looking for hardwired stuff. That's not what he wants - my previous post said it had to be a module to connect to an existing switch, not a white plastic replacement switch. However looking elsewhere on that site it appears that a "scene controller"...

Hi All, Father in law is about to add downlights into the soffits of his new house. What he's asked my is there a system along the lines of X10 that can do the following: 3 Inline modules to controller the power feed to the lights (3 groups of lights), a PIR/light sensor to active the...

Wiring an electric shower - cable route

Thanks to both of you for your responses. @holmeslaw - not even looked at showers yet as we weren't going to bother if we found out it was too much like hard work and would cause lots of disruption. @ban-all-sheds - thanks for that. Again, we didn't want to get anyone in if the general...

Wiring an electric shower - cable route

Hi All, We are considering getting an electric shower fitting to the main bathroom of the house. This will obviously need wiring and I'm not 100% sure how they'll wire it to the distribution board. Bathroom is on the 1st floor at the back of the house and the distribution board is in...
