    Remove finish from stone

Hi, I've got a stone window sill, it has some kind of thick glossy varnish on it. As you can see in the pictures it is cracking and peeling all over. Does any body know what's the best way to remove the existing product, and what is a nice product to refinish with? Any help greatly...

    is my hot water gravity?

Thanks everyone for your help, this also explains why there's a separate pump for the central heating. I did think it was a primatic cylinder, which has put me off using cleaners and inhibitors in the past, happy I can now add some treatment.

    is my hot water gravity?

Thanks, that clears that up, so in the image attached, where would the mains pressure come from for the cylinder? And what is the loft tanks purpose?

    is my hot water gravity?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to improve my inefficient, hard to control Central heating system. But to do so, I need to fully understand it first, and something has stumped me: I have a vented cylinder system (1 tank in the loft), heated by a Rayburn gas oven/boiler. I would expect my hot water to...

    Filler on external front door

For anyone interested, I came across this article, seems to be the proper way to do it. https://www.makewoodgood.co.uk/timber-joint-sealing/ Looks a bit too in depth for me though.

    Filler on external front door

My thoughts exactly, it looks just like wood in some parts. Whatever is in place is flexible and had lasted a good 5 years, so would love to know what it was. I'll have to have a look into ct1 sealant I think. Cheers

    Sikkens recoat/maintenance

Hi, I have a front door which was painted with a light oak coloured Sikkens 7 product around 4 years ago. It still looks great, however there are a few scratches and chips that I'd like to sort - but I thought I may as well stain the full door and frame. So - which Sikkens product should I...

Cheers for the reply, it's definitely not a washer - I should have stated that there's an identical part the other side, it's basically just a plastic cap.

    Sealing an old patio

Yes it's block paving, I've been told elsewhere to dry mix sand and cement at a ratio of 4:1, but to use sharp sand... Would you still recommend using kiln dried? I've got no idea about this kind of thing.

    Sealing an old patio

Hello, Just finished jet washing my patio, and can believe how much dirt came off it, however, I can now see gaps of about 1-3mm around many of the flags. I wouldn't of give this a second thought, but a friend of mine recommended that i fill the gaps with fine sand, and then seal the...

    Help with wood size!

Hello! Right, I'm currently planning on building a mini bar in my spare room, and have come across a snag. I was planning on getting a nice piece of wood (50mmx375mm) and making the bar top out of it, however I've come to realize that this isn't a standard size. So, my question is, how...
