Best tool for trimming down 18mm MDF and how to support it

I need to trim some MDF. Not a big job, but some degree of accuracy needed. The problem, as I see it, is the length and supporting it as it is cut and the blade necessary. I've a few thoughts but could do with suggestions. MDF pieces are 18m thick and 1800 x 600 and 1200 x 600.

Storage heater in bathroom - possible / advisable ?

I've got a bathroom with no radiators and a spare 1kw storage heater doing nothing. I've also got recently (2010) rewired wiring for a 2kw immersion heater with its own fused on/off switch in the bathroom airing cupboard. This is wired to a new consumer unit on Economy 7. Firstly, is it...

When to get an electrician in during a cellar conversion ?

Nearly ready to start putting up the stud walling in the cellar and I want to make sure I time the electrician's work as accurately as possible. Consumer unit is in the cellar so what I envisage is a couple of circuits, one for lighting and the other for sockets. I also want to hook up...

What is a decent single lever bath mixer tap with shower ?

I truly can't justify multiples of hundreds but I just know that if I pick a £49 special from the internet it will be truly shocking and be leaking all over. To go on a bath, not a wall, 180mm centres. I want a good action a child can operate and am leaning towards a finger stick operation...

15mm hot water supply to existing 22mm piping - problems ?

The piping from my old immersion heater tank is 22mm (or imperial equivalent) for some length before reducing as it feeds different places and the outlet from my proposed instantaneous water heater replacement is only 12/15mm. I do not want to rip out pipework unnecessarily but canI live with...

How to turn a cellar into a useful room ?

I live in an old house with a cellar leading down from the kitchen which I'd like to make more use of than just storage. The problem is that I lease the property and whilst I am happy to invest a certain amount, I won't be doing a conversion to the standard I would were I the owner. At...

Best saw for a decking job ?

I'm building a framework for decking to span a 3m x 1m void using 4" x 2" for joists and pillars and circa 30mm decking. I've obviously got to cut the wood to size and bar a hand saw I don't have any cutting tools. I was thinking of future usefulness as well and thought about a sliding...

How to turn an out building into a childs play house ?

At the back of the garden is a small outbuilding. It is old but looks and looks as though it has had the roof and chimney chopped off some years ago and a pitched felted roof put on. It appears weatherproof but there are some gaps such as between the door frame and the brickwork. Inside it is...

12kw water heater - cost for electric installation ?

Sounds easy doesn't it. Get a couple of quotes and hire someone to do the job. The trouble is that getting a professional interested isn't easy. One guy (on the Which? recommended list) just spouted a figure over the phone. Another couple just never showed up. One guy wanted loony money (nigh...
