Decking subframe for composite decking with glass balustrade on flat roof

It's been built to support a floor, however the roof is fibreglass so not keen on using that as the finished deck and drilling posts through it. Thanks, Dave

Decking subframe for composite decking with glass balustrade on flat roof

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what kind of material to use for a subframe for composite decking that will have glass balcony posts screwed into them. Ideally I would like to use something other than timber for longevity but nothing seems wide or deep enough for screws...

Wet underfloor heating advice for extension and existing area

Great reply - thanks for spending the time to do this! As the concrete floor area is approximately only 15% of the total floor area maybe I shouldn't worry about this too much? Is there a system you recommend which would be more cost effective? thanks!

Wet underfloor heating advice for extension and existing area

Thanks Madrab, good to heard a positive, it was a couple of builders who I spoke to that didn't think it would work that well. Which system would you recommend? NuHeat LoProMax was recommended to us. Thanks!

Wet underfloor heating advice for extension and existing area

I guess what puts me off are people's opinions on an overlay system not being very good.

Wet underfloor heating advice for extension and existing area

thanks Rob, do you think it would it be possible just to have the new extension with UFH and the existing (green and yellow) with a couple of rads? Our final floor finish would be laminate or vinyl so nothing too cold under foot!

Wet underfloor heating advice for extension and existing area

Thanks again Rob, The extension isn't built yet. Nope 360mm is an assumption so could be incorrect! If we were to do the overlay systems would we do this throughout the yellow and green section then just standard pipework in the extension? I assume we would have a floor height difference when...

Wet underfloor heating advice for extension and existing area

Thanks Rob, I think the idea for the existing concreate floor was to excavate to 360mm: lay 60mm screed on 100mm polyurethane insulation on 100mm concrete on 100mm hardcore.

    Creating area for a shed

I'm just thinking regarding the retaining wall, what would be easier ? Wooden frame over the top or build a proper retaining wall and level it?

    Creating area for a shed

Hi, We are wanting to make a useable space at the back of our garden next to an existing shed (which is in OK condition although the existing base looks a bit dodgy!). I’m just wondering how to approach the most cost-effective way of making this new flat area for the shed. I guess I could...

B&Q loft boards product number change

I've recently just boarded my loft out with these using loft legs. No problems, the grooves are a bit dodgy if you screw too close to the edges but all in all not bad at all. On tip I will give, make sure you use decent screws, I couldn't believe the difference on the second pack I bought (AVF...

'Standard P5' vs CaberShield P5 vs Egger Protect flooring?

Quick question... I am relaying the flooring in one of our bedrooms due to damage to the existing floorboards from woodworm. My question is, is it worth paying the extra (double) for the waterproof flooring over the standard P5 chipboard if the room has no intention of getting wet!! thanks, Dave
