    Water into F/E tank

I assume so, as I fitted it the same way round as the old pump

    Water into F/E tank

Would that be the case eventhough the boiler / system drains completely and fills perfectly from the F/E tank?

    Water into F/E tank

I fitted a new pump to my old Glow Worm 65 80-B. It's a balanced flue, pumped downstairs, gravity upstairs system. Having fitted the pump, I am regularly getting excessive water going into the F/E tank in the loft, and then overflowing. This is only happening when the CH is on. I have...

    Gas/Heating Regulations

Yes of course the fitter has to recharge VAT on the boiler when he sells it on, so there is no saving to the customer at all. To be precise, the law is, as a householder you do NOT have to be CORGI to install gas fittings. You have to be "competent". If you are employed to do such work then...

    Room stat

Thanks Felix My original query related to my friends system but your reply describes the system I have which was fitted by the same moron you talk about!! When I moved in 12 years ago I had a zone valve fitted connected to a hot water cyclinder stat. But, when (if the CH is off and on HW...

    Room stat

I have been asked by friends to install a room stat for them. Their system does not have a room stat at present but does have indiviudal rediator stats. The system is a balanced flue with pumped heating and gravity hot water with a motorised valve. Is the installation of a room stat, in...

    Gas cuts off

My 2nd problem is... Have a Glow worm 65-80B Space Saver around 30 years old. The pilot ignites and will stay lit for hours when the burners are not alight. The problem is that once the burners ignite, the control valve cuts off the gas for no apparent reason after a period of time. It...

    Expansion Tank overflowing

The problem is not continuous, and has only happened 2 or 3 times in the last couple of months. But I do know the boiler is scaled up, given its age, as it bangs, gurgles and kettles all day! I have used Fernox decalers numerous times to the point where the water comes out clean, but the...

    Expansion Tank overflowing

I've read on a couple of other threads that if the pump is fitted in the wrong direction a similar problem can arise. How do I know which direction it should be going? The arrow on the pump is pointing FROM an external pipe TOWARDS to boiler inlet. Thanks

    Expansion Tank overflowing

I have no idea if it's in hot water only mode, as the problem is recent when I've had the heating on all the time. Thanks for the advice, I will check the pipes for scale build-up.

    Expansion Tank overflowing

The zone valve has been both open and closed during the "eruptions", although I have lowered the temperature on the strap-on stat on the cylinder.

    Expansion Tank overflowing

Thank you but.... Why is it boiling? The boiler stat seems to be working ok in that it cuts in and out and never seems to be in a position where it doesn't cut out. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you

    Expansion Tank overflowing

Advice please... I have an old (about 30 years) Glow-worm balanced flue gas boiler. It provides hot water to a tank upstairs and pumped heating downstairs and gravity feed upstairs. There is a stat on the hot water tank and a zone valve. Recently the hot water tank has, every now and...
