Yes it does let water out when activated!! Can the seal on the valve be repaired or am I into a new valve?

Thanks Boilerman 2 that is really very helpful. I have released the pin as you suggest and that has turned the flow of water off. The thermic head does not work when connected it blows a fuse and looks as if water has got in I assume the gland is weeping and may also require attention.
