What I origially asked was whether or not there is a way to monitor the temperature of the water in the cylinder. The stat in the cylinder appears to be wired into the loom so I wonder if could I pick up a feed there?

300lt, be good to use all the hot water up in the morning so the sun can heat it up in the day which is why I don't want to have the water on constantly.

You may be right and I will never run out of hot water with this system, but I can only use as much water as it can store. If I use the stored water, there will be a delay while it heats up some more. I don't always have regular water use.

[/url] That's interesting David, the new cylinder will have its own inbuilt thermostat to set the max temp so it depends whether it has an option to fit this sensor to that, another poster thinks not. It doesn't need to control the temperature, just monitor it.
