    should also add that the clunking is only in the timer and at the same time the boilern not in rads or any pipes. To me it seems electrical rather than mechanical. Everthing at the moment works, but obviously this noise is not right. The odd thing also is that it never happens in the afternoon...

    Hi, and thanks for the replies. The clunking has only happened in the mornings. It lasts between 20 seconds and a couple of minutes. Will re happen when the heating comes back on ( when the thermostat tells it too). The clunks happen evrey 2 to 10 seconds ie. multiple in a row then odd ones now...
