    Weber Render

firstly, sorry to hear this is still ongoing.i was hoping you would have it sorted by now. are any of your neighbours render in a similar condition? if more has crumbled off then there is absolutely no way this has been applied correctly. weber comes with a guarentee but i dont know if this...

    Re-render

It does seem a tad expensive. Not only for your renderer, but the scaffold aswell. As a rough guide, i just done a similar sized gable, that got taken back to brick for £700 plus £350 for scaffold

    Sand and Cement

My nose got the better of me... It turns out you aren't exactly correct in what you are saying, although not entirely incorrect! It says pretty much says the guide for the ratio of freeflo/water is for Portland cement. If you use any other types of cement then a trial is reccomended to...

Get a grip pal. If you look back i said to go on a course as he will get more trowel time no one in their right mind would go to a customers house and show them everything they know about plastering. Thats unless they are a one man band like yourself and 90% of the posters in this section...

Plastering ceiling that has aztec in it?

Ask your plasterer when he comes round to price the job. He will tell you the best way. A lot of plasterers hate coating over this background so they re board the ceiling and skim. Personally, I would scrape it all off and 2 coats of finish

Ponyagent, you get a job rewire a full house, don't know how much this would be so say £2000. You turn up at the job and customer wants you to teach them everything while you do your job at the same time. This would add approx 50% longer than originally planned. What do you do?

Huds you do have a point. I doubt they could finish a wall on there own with half a days teaching though

    simply plastering

Its not about taking potential work etc away. I might spend 5/10 mins showing them but a full day, no thanks. Not for me. Ive been in plenty jobs where customer asks how thick to lay on, how to mix, prep, when to trowel over etc etc and given my advice so they could then do their box room or the...

i never charge day rate. Never have, never will. There fore i price a job, say one bedroom skimming. Would probably take me between 8-4. One days work for one boy. Add teaching someone on top off all this then my 4 oclock finish turns in to an 8oclock finish. Not for me im afraid
