Fault fixed, was just the drier coil that was earthing out, stat was fine. Constant live feed to coil was ok as it is neutral/earth switched

Tested with multimeter, from earth point.

Hi all, I'm replacing the drier element on my hotpoint wd440 as it has ab earth short. However when testing the feed it appears to be live, 240, continuously. Is this normal or could the stat be gone as well (possibly then cause of the element failure) THanks
