    EV Charger Install

Enquiring for a friend as to issues re. EV Charger install. As he has an all electric kitchen ie. dish washer, induction hob, washing machine etc. and only a 60A main fuse. He realises that his DNO will need to fit a 100A main fuse. Before he books an electrician, he intends to contact UK Power...

    Multi-Purpose Screws

I would like to keep a variety of size and length screws, rather than having to go out or order when I am doing a job. I am only a DIY'er and don't use that many to warrant 100/200 boxes. To this end I found a site "CheapScrews" that can supply me with say 4/4.5/5 in 40/50/70mm in small volumes...

    New Kitchen Mixer Tap

Thanks OB. Those calculations are spot on for my house. Therefor with only .375 and not the minimum .5, I cannot use that tap. Is the only solution, to find one without those restrictions and why are they imposed on that tap and others that I've seen with a similar .5 bar minimum specified...

    New Kitchen Mixer Tap

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I am replacing my Franke mixer with another (35 years apart) but. The recommendations are for minimum .5 Bar. How do I know if I fulfil that criterion. I have mains cold and gravity fed hot from a copper cylinder in the storey above (bedroom) and the cold water...

    New Kitchen Mixer Tap

What isolator valves would you recommend fitting under my sink. Peglar isolator valves with screw, the same with small plastic lever or the larger Peglar ball valve?

    New Kitchen Mixer Tap

Thanks both of you. I appreciate the new tap will have flexi-hoses, I only mentioned the fixed pipework to explain the type of assembly. Removing the nut is going to be a "joy" with little space to work with and having no box spanner that size.

    New Kitchen Mixer Tap

I have an old 35 year old Franke 2 bowl sink and mixer tap. The tap needs replacing but I need assurance that the new one will fit. The old tap has a 30mm threaded column to which the H&C feeds are sweated into it. The whole assembly is then fixed with a 40mm brass nut. Will a modern mixer tap...

Kitchen wall mounted cabinets - Cables in wall

Many thanks. I assume then that I could buy and get it quicker off Amazon if they are universal size.

Kitchen wall mounted cabinets - Cables in wall

Thanks for the reply. Do you then dispense with the whole fitting device supplied by Wren. Do you fit one bracket to the wall and a similar one (but reversed) to the back of cupboard or do you buy separate brackets.

Kitchen wall mounted cabinets - Cables in wall

Fitting Wren wall cabinets and noticed the mounting fixings are in the top corners. If I find that there are cables in the wall where the screws would need to go - how do I get over the problem. The base units wouldn't be a problem as the fixings can be moved along but I don't see a way to do...

Water Level in Cold Water Storage Tank

Just to confirm then that the 2.5" of air space in my dipper under the output hole is OK. I got confused as some questions asked when googling refer to syphoning problems and I cannot remember whether the water level was ever under the bottom of the dipper. I if had been, I'd have to bend the...

Water Level in Cold Water Storage Tank

Thanks. But my warning (overflow) pipe has a dipper pipe approx. 4". After my adjustment, the bottom of the dipper is submerged about 1.5" and there is 2.5" to the outlet level. I have read that it is to stop insects. TBH I can't remember what it used to be when first fitted. Although it sounds...

Water Level in Cold Water Storage Tank

How near the top should the water level be. After changing the float valve and putting a slight bend in the float arm. The water level still appears high although now shutting off. What level should it be from the top of the tank, please.

    13A Cooker - wiring requirements

Sorry to bump the thread. I have changed my question. As I am happy with the cabling for the hob, I am still unsure about the cooker. Unfortunately he hasn't had it delivered yet but is aware that it is 13A. Whether or no cabled already again I am ignorant of too. In preparation because...

    13A Cooker - wiring requirements

My apologies , title edited. Both appliances will be changed. As far as I am aware the existing 32A MCB with 6mm cabling will be sufficient for his new Induction Hob rated 33A fitted adjacent to where his electric cooker is coming out. Fitting a DP Cooker Switch 45A and connector plate. The...

    13A Cooker - wiring requirements

I am hoping to help my son fit a new oven. It is rated as 13A and may come with flexi cable or none. Currently he has an Electric Oven cabled with 6mm cable from a 32A MCB. The new cooker will be opposite and will require additional wiring. If the manufacturer suggests connecting to ring...
