    bathroom Fan

No, I got 2 10mm into the spurbox, from the spurbox to the pull switch I used 1.5 T/E and from the switch to the fan. So the power supply to the fan had a 5 amp fuse to cover it. If some thing went wrong with the fan it would blow the 5 amp fuse and trip the main rcb. I'm not that stupid as to...

    bathroom Fan

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. It was just a query that's all. I'd fitted a new consumer unit a few months ago. Had a qualified electrician in to pass it off when he noticed how I'd got the fan and shower hooked up. He said it can't be done like that and that it should have its own...

Strange 'tamper proof' retaining screw on UAP euro cylinder

Hi Kevtom, I have come across these before, you could try to use a screw extactor that looks like a drill bit but it grips in reverse. Also you could try tapping it round with narrow puch and a hammer and give it slight taps till its out far enough to get pliers on it. the only other problem...

    repairing double glazing

Its your sealed units that have broken down, you dont have to replace your windows. If you go on google and type in sealed unit replacement london, you can find loads of companies that can help you. If they try to sell you new windows tell them politely to bog off.

    plastic back door

Hi David, Plastic or wooden, you have to look at it this way, if a burgular wants to get in he will. normally it will be through a window not a door. most upvc doors these days have 5 point locking, 2 leavers that are hooked go up and 2 go down then you have a dead bolt in the middle thats...

measuring up for a replacement sash window

there is another way of doing this, if the timber suround is sound, you could take out the sashes and fit a upvc window in between and leave the sash boxes inplace. Then you can either plater board them or cover with trim. I know from past experiance, taking out a sash window is a messy job.

    Window configeration advice

It is possible to do, but you will have to know what profile you window is, you can get whats known as a mechanicle joint which screws into you existing frame. then you will have to determin what size casement you want. Most window manufactures wont weld a casement under 230mm in hight. It...

    bathroom Fan

Thanks for the reply, I dont want the fan to come on with the lights, I want it switched separately. As I understood i thought that you would only need an out side isolater if it was a electric shower, which this is not. I'm bringing the 1.5 cable from the fuse bored which is a 6amp trip switch...

Tilt and Slide Patio door lock

On the handle you will find 2 screws, if you undo them the handle will come off. You will find the spindle, which is a bout 6mm square if this is warn then you can replace it. To open the door you can put a flat bladed screw driver in the hole were the spindle came out. very rare that the...
