Many thanks for the reply, I think i'll play it safe and get someone else to do it who has some experience with electrics! Just out of curiosity what is the best instrument to use to test if a wire is live or not? Also what is the best way to leave the cable once iv'e taken the cooker...

I need my electric cooker disconnecting when i move at the end of the month, is it safe to do it myself if i turn of the electric.

I have found Ebay a great source for spare parts for washing machines, fridges and cookers if you know the part you are looking for. I normally find those the cheapest aswell when shopping around.
