    Painting a fireplace

    The fireplace in my house is pretty hideous, and I've no funds to replace it. It is dated and mahogany coloured but pretty sure it's not solid wood. What would the process be of painting it black, which would go some way to kill the 80's vibe. Or do I wait for it to be the height of fashion again!

    Thanks guys, would have been so stuck without you. I bought a garden sprayer and also a basic bottle sprayer, and used a little bit of washing up liquid in the water. My son and I were having a good go one wall this evening (had planned a whole day of it tomorrow but thought I'd make a start)...
