    Can you gloss over lining paper?

    I used wickes trade vinyl silk over lining paper not long ago in a bedroom and it worked a treat, it left a nice wipe clean surface when dry with a slight shine to it. I wouldn't use gloss, vinyl silk works just fine and will be a lot cheaper option!

    Blown plaster - can you just skim over?

    Skimming over wallpaper seems a VERY dodgy to me lol Id remove it first no matter what your "plasterer" says, sounds like a proper cowboy..if he turns up on a mountain bike with his tools in a carrier bag alarm bells should ring!

    Masonry paint nightmare, please help.

    I got some masonary paint on my stone slabs not long ago, i managed to remove it using a wire brush and soapy water as the jet wash didn't shift it. You can also buy cupped wire wheels that fit onto a small angle grinder to make the job easyer/quicker! Ther very expensive from d.i.y stores but...
