Neighbouring Drainpipe draining into our property

We are currently in the process of purchasing a new build property. When we last visited the property they had finished working on a garage which forms part of our boundary. What we have noticed is that there is guttering overhanging our property (not hugely fussed about this but not sure how...

Worcester Greenstar 24RI - Heating Staying on

Yeah I have one. Unfortunately its not so easy to probe behind the tempus but there is a junction box in the airing cupboard where it all goes to (cables are a mess)

Worcester Greenstar 24RI - Heating Staying on

Yes there is a 3 way valve (and pump). Both of these were replaced 2/3 years ago. I still need the Tempus for the hot water (my Nest is the Gen 2 which does not cover the water) Ideally I would have a Honeywell EvoHome install but its just too much

Worcester Greenstar 24RI - Heating Staying on

Over the last 3/4ish months we have hit a problem a coupe of times I can't quite work out. We have a Worcester Grecnstar 24RI boiler, Drayton Tempus 7 programmer and a Nest. We have noticed that the central heating has not turned off when it should have. Nest was showing as off. I turned the...

    Electricity monitors

Not all the time. You could buy an efficient HDD 3 years ago which was still better than a HDD you could buy now so its not as simple as you try and make it sound. Nope - My notifications are set to trigger at 11 so before I have gone to sleep. If I have left something on in the garage etc...

    Electricity monitors

Yup Mad and many people out there are interested in it. Just because you aren't doesn't make us mad I've got a current cost and also got it wired up to the web. I've used it for various things. Found out that my fileserver was very expensive to run and I could buy a new one which was much...

Advice on Negotiating Price Reduction Following Survey

If the house had no issues would it sell for more than the 460 they are asking? i.e. has it already been reduced? As others have said - these sorts of surveys often pull up stuff that is not actually required and can be sorted in a different cheaper but just as good way. Always imagine...

    Replacing decking with extension

You obviously know best. I better inform my council they are wrong to be passing my 'tin-pot' applications. A bit of research, a bit of time and a decent computer user can produce plans which are more than acceptable for planning permission (for that size of extension) (Obviously when...

    Replacing decking with extension

Whats with the attitude? I don't see you proving any useful information All I've said is that you can save money by drawing up the diagrams yourself and only spend a couple hundred to get that sort of development into planning.

    Replacing decking with extension

Why do you need to spend 1K+ on plans? DraftIT or OpenOffice Draw and you can come up with some scale drawings of what its going to look like. Few quit to et some scale block diagrams of the area and jobs a goodun Less than £200 outlay for permission and diagrams

Planning rules on extensions to be relaxed 'to boost economy

I think your problem is if that is what you meant to say, you said something totally different, you said There is a big difference to say its only worth what people will pay i.e. if you spend 100K on a 400K house that is then worth 600k then its worth it - that does not = " You'll never get...

Planning rules on extensions to be relaxed 'to boost economy

Extending can sometimes be a great move. My brother decided to spend 100k extending his house(really only 80k but spent 20k on very high spec interior due to it being thier final home) . The alternative was to move to a similar sized house but it was a newer brick built not stone clad like his...

Can I dig my foundations before I get Building regs

Yes you can start BUT You will then have to dig another hole to show the BCO how deep the foundations are and onto what sort of surface etc. If he is not happen then it will be a VERY VERY expensive mistake to put right. He might also give you short shift for jumping the gun. Nothing to...

    What's a realistic price?

Those prices do not surprise me although do sound slightly on the higher side. We have been looking into a 2x2.6 porch. For the foundations/ dwaft wall had quotes from 1600-2700. For the porch it self they range from 1800-2500 for a glass roofed porch. We are probably going to use the durabase...

    Porch Roof - DIY construction

I was thinking more of a forward slanting one than a pitched roof style. That said SWMBO is now starting to think its better to go for the full upvc porch so looks like my 'cheap' solution is going out the window. Now time to find a custom supplier as I only need 2 full sides + roof. All...
