    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

Faulty shower was ruled out at it was tested by electrician and was brand new too. My consumer unit is very old so my next thought is either the 40A MCB is iffy or the whole unit is. It's very old - can't see anything similar on the internet so probably can't get a replacement MCB. The strange...

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

Just had a thought. I checked the cable by looking at it, I'm definitely no expert as you all know. The shower used to trip a lot, could this have damaged the cable in a way I could not see? The only positive to come from this is the cabling is easily accessible to replace if necessary.

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

Just been up and the cabling to me looks sound. Checked it all the way from shower to isolator to supply cable. No kinks, breaks, scorch marks. I'm at a loss. Maybe it is tje fuse box. Maybe the cable from shower to isolator needs replacing. Looks like i need the electrician to return

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

Think I'm gonna get the wiring looked at then probably end up with mixer from the combi because its becoming a right pain. Can't imagine installation costing too much.

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

Do you know, after all this fannying about I wish I'd gone for that option when we had the combi boiler in as its right next to the bathroom so piping would be easy My only worry was pressure coming out the shower.

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

I have a feeling it is going to be a cable issue in the loft. When we had the central heating installed and the water tank removed im wondering if cable was damaged as everything was ok before then. Gonna get cabling in loft checked first as that's the only thing i know that hasn't been...

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

You think I should get a whole new consumer unit? Looking at other people's mine does look archaic. Would that be a costly job?

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

The circuit breaker and consumer unit are indeed old but why would everything be "okay" for two weeks with a new iso and now it's as bad as it was. There's a circular "junction" box in the loft I noticed, no idea what runs to or from it. Could that be the issue,? Or am i grasping at straws here...

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

The circuit breaker wasn't removed but he did test the connections with some fancy looking meter reader thing. I know it wasn't a simple multi meter. The humming stopped once a new iso was installed. Now its tripping again, the box is humming again.

    Shower keeps tripping the fusebox

40A RCD. The consumer unit itself is very old but electrian checked it out with multimeter and said it was ok. One thing i remember him doing was shower cord was off but he was still getting a current reading, it was very low but that's how he initially concluded the issue was the shower cord...
