    Mist Coat or PVA - Bare Surface Basics

    What's the f..ing point of making wall breathable and then putting PVA on ot ? In this day and age not many would use pva. Only for certain jobs, but not for this purpose.

    Paint stripper smell won't go away - should I neutralise?

    neutralizer will only work if you have used high acidity paint striper like peel away system. If you have used nitromorse or similar than this should evaporate after a while. We have done this when our painters in central London had to strip paint from fireplaces.

    I find that Johnstone aqua satin works pretty well. You have to use their aqua undercoat though to get the best results. We have done this on many jobs when decorating in London.

    How to repair a white wall from filler n ripped lining

    Scrape the accents and fill it all with easy fill. Two three fills and will be ready for some paint. Good luck.

    Is sugar soap neccessary?

    Just paint it. Give it a miss coat first( thinned emulsion). Never used sugar soap on walls or ceilings. Only cleaned greasy windows a few times in my decorators carer. Good Luck

    Bathroom painting question (a nice and easy one) :-)

    Just use Zinsser perma white. Hardest wearing and mould proof paint I have worked with.

    Can I varnish over a solvent based paint?

    Hi. Oil based paints don't harden up this quickly. They will only get to their max hardiness after about 3-4 weeks depending on temperature. And forget about using varnish over the top of oil, it will just ruin it. Varnish will start cracking and peeling after a while if not applied to correct...

    Hair cracks in walls

    Hi. I would use to part wood filler, but you would need to run stanley blade through those cracks, to make some space for the filler. You could get easy to sand wood filler from Ronseal or other makes. Just make sure you don't over fill it. Do it twice rather than once. Good luck

    Painting Radiators.

    Do what you like but do not paint hot rads. Will be absolute disaster, especially if you gonna use enamel paint. Speaking from from my own experience :cry:
