Yes I've been on a proper apprenticeship. Everyone has to start somewhere mate. Unless you were playing with copper instead of kinex as a child?

City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 Plumbing

It definitely needed to get harder I agree. You'd virtually get a point for writing your name on the old course. This is way OTT though. I shall do, I look forward to the day very much indeed

City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 Plumbing

Oh and LPG is covered in this course too. But noone at our college teaches LPG. NVQ 3 workshop still hasn't been fitted accordingly. Come to think of it I could well be here come july. I was tempted to ask my bosses to take it out kyvwages but why should they? They're getting good work...

City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 Plumbing

Without knocking people on the old course I'd done a years worth on it and can categorically say this is much harder. 16 weeks of electrical work/exams being one example. Allegedly took us to just below Part P standard. The tutors were literally teaching us stuff they'd only been taught/told...

City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 Plumbing

I appreciate that its all down to the funding which is what my college tutor said. However, due to the fact that I'm 1. 27 2. Only had one years worth of funding left after doing a years worth of the old level 3 course back in 08 before being made redundant and 3. We're now around 8 months over...

City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 Plumbing

Cheers for the reply. When did you start your level 3 though? I shouldve added that my tutor told me on the 'old' course (the date between the 2 is somewhere around summer 2011) you COULD do as you did. Another thing you've reminded me of- C&G are currently chopping and changing their minds...

City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 Plumbing

Right I'll try and keep this as short as possible. Started the above course in August 2011. Unfortunately due to the time I was registered onto the course by my firm I was put on this new syllabus set by C&G. Its still a two year course- allegedly. Anyway, fast track to the present day I'm still...

Converting Gravity HW System To Fully Pumped

Please explain then! My outline is incredibly brief and vague I realise. Alterations to existing systems isn't really what I do hence my asking.

Converting Gravity HW System To Fully Pumped

Hi there. I could with with clarifying a few things. We swapped all the radiators in a customers bungalow the other month. Since they have complained that the hall radiator wasn't getting as hot as the rest I've realised its connected to the HW circuit rather than the CH. (Heat Leak?) The...

    Two Damp Problems

[/url] Cheers, I realise it sounds daft, I knew the reason why the bathroom has mould on it. But was trying to identify whether the damp in the upstairs was for the same reason which is doesnt sound as if it is

Replace Honeywell TRV Heads for Drayton TR4

I dont know of any valve heads that are interchangeable with other brands. Usually the valve bodies are roughly the same size though so swapping the whole thing shoulnt require pipework alterations

Neighbours boiler safety becasue of my new build.

I've been in a potential similar situation before and all they said when we checked before commencing was, 'go on what the manufacturers instructions say' Ive only read the first two pages so dont know how this ended yet, but couldn't a plume management kit be fitted instead of a vertical flue?

Waste pipe advice for shower and basin please

No need to support the waste behind the ped no. The hot and colds may need it depending on where they come from. If you're in a new build with speedfit sticking out the floor behind the ped, it'll want clipping somehow. If its copper (particularly if they're coming out of the wall half way up...

Basin Mate - Where am I going wrong?

Hes right. A flip waste or spring loaded mushroom waste are much better. All PUW with the rod going through the tap are pretty crap

    Pipes Banging

Is the ball valve to the toilet plastic? Could it be linked to the noise? Sounds like too much of a coincidence not to be. Plastic BVs often give out horrendous noises

Basin Mate - Where am I going wrong?

I think the first thing we do when installing a new PUW is to throw half the gaskets and rubbers away and use silicone.
