    Help with building a boxed hole in Chimney breast

    We removed a horrible gas fire thing on the chimney breast, couple of bits of timber and a sheet of plasterboard to hide the tv bracket and wires and boxed the hole up with ply, then my dad plastered it all up, still to hide the wires at the back and the one wire we forgot

    Thanks for the reply, like i said theres no white power right along the beam at all and its a long beam dont think theres enough to warrant replacing it and im sure the home report would have highlighted this as a major if it was, actually just read up about the cuprinal 5 star and the data...

    nothing at all dont think any of the previous owners gave a toss about the loft out of sight out of mind! was a dumping ground when we got it and doesnt look as if its got any treatment on it might just give it all a spray myself as the better weather comes in and just keep an eye on it

    ment to add had a good look at it specifically looking for any white seen that somewhere online and couldnt see anything like that , it only appears to be on a couple of beams

    dont think mine was that dear 35 quid on ebay would be good for the big flat bits, believe me when u have a big flat bmw bonnet to polish up its a far better way than by hand ;)...

    if there is enough material on it DA with softpad and 1500 discs then buzz over with a wet 3000 will save you alot of time, thats the way we used to do it on cars the last place i worked, guy i worked for liked everything totally flat no orange peel at all just watched that video above lol...

    Reason I ask is I'm not familiar with bsp sizes and when I check them online the sizes don't look the same as my basin size so just making sure, on a side note think he uses some kind of oil based product but ill pass your info on !
