Hi rocks, thanks for your reply. I haven't took the back off but get the impression it could be the mains suppressor around the back (where the elec supply feeds in?) it's quite warm around this area when the drier is on and the electric wire has tiny scorch marks on it and the main wire...

I've had this for 2 years i bought it 2nd hand. However it's recently developed a burning/electrical smell that has made me very nervous! There are no filters on this machine so I wouldn't know how to clear and bits of fluff that has possibly built up? Also there is a black cap on the back...
