Planning rules on extensions to be relaxed 'to boost economy

Well, I've recorded what he said. He was on the Daily Politics. I've just played it back and that's what I wrote. Why the rude snipe?

Planning rules on extensions to be relaxed 'to boost economy

It's in place now. You still have to comply with Building regs, but there is now no need to apply for planning permission unless the extension is over 8m for a detached house. I heard Eric Pickles say so this morning.

Do I need building regs for boiler change?

Whilst I agree with what you wrote, the reality of changing a boiler is a simple process. The hardest part is changing the wiring on a "Y" plan system, so as to power the circulator directly from the boiler, so as to permit overrun. Even that isn't rocket science. In terms of pipework there's...

Do I need building regs for boiler change?

I agree with the last 2 posters. Thanks. It seems that you're going to need certificates of competence for changing light bulbs soon. I can see the need for competence when it comes to gas work. What surprised me was the LA not knowing whether I'd need Building Control approval and sign-off.

Do I need building regs for boiler change?

Thank you. I just won't bother applying then. Something quite odious about having to inform LABC when I want to work on my own property. Then, when I asked them, they were unsure. All they really wanted was my money. No surprise there, I suppose.

Do I need building regs for boiler change?

I recently changed my central heating boiler for a new condensing unit. I'm not Corgi or Gas Safe registered but I am a "competent person" as defined by law. I'm getting conflicting advice as to whether I need to notify the council and get a completion certificate. They want £150 for my...

    Ideal Logic Plus frost stat

Yes, thank you. The components in the new Ideal look to come from all over Europe. I bet they've copied the design from Vaillant or similar. I'm quite shocked by the difference in performance. It just quietly gets on with the job and really send some heat out. The gas rate is lower than...

    Ideal Logic Plus frost stat

Thanks very much. That's what I needed. The installation book quotes that I could install an external frost stat, but I'm only bothered about the tiny heat exchanger, built from aluminium. I don't want that cracking. I've had the boiler in use for 3 weeks now. Vast improvement on my...

    Ideal Logic Plus frost stat

I've recently installed an Ideal Logic Plus 18 heat-only boiler in my attached garage. The manual isn't clear about whether there is an internal frost stat. I tried ringing Ideal in Hull. Their customer service really is as dire as I'd read. The front display on the boiler has "F" as one...
