    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Bad news... The CU at the bungalow is NOT a split load one. This means that I cannot connect the feed for the shed power to the non-RCD side. It's only a convenience thing though, isn't it? I can still connect the shed to it but will have to reset in the house it the shed trips for any...

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Is this the kind of round pin stuff you guys spoke of? http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp;jsessionid=LPHY2STOMGQZFCJO2C3CIIQ?ts=82782&id=11412

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Thanks for the further replies guys. BAS - Having read quite a number of your threads on here I've learned not to be offended by your replies. I admit I'm something of a novice (I am trying to learn though) which is why I asked for further information relating to your lighting...

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

BAS - Thanks for your replies. My question relating to the garage read... The 'spare' way in the bungalow CU WAS used for power to the garage although no electricity has been used in there for a number of years. Am I allowed, as a DIYer, to remove the cable that still remains, or is that a...

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

I only have one spare slot in the bungalow CU so I cannot run a separate circuit for the loft sockets. I know I could have a new CU but that's not a project for now. So... could I run the loft sockets off the T&E that's running through the loft for the shed? Oh... the SWA cannot go out...

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Thanks very much - I'll take that as a compliment. It's split down the middle. One half as my gym / office, the other for general storage. Desperately need to get the power into it though.

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Thanks for the advice so far everyone. Keep it coming, please. Does anyone know the answer to my question about the existing wire to the garage of a few posts ago? Here's ANOTHER question... The T&E for the shed supply is going through the loft, right? Well, I've recently installed a TV...

Hmmm... can't remember exactly what I read but I suspect that theory of yours may be incorrect Ben.

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Ben, it wasn't advice directly to me, I read it in a number of threads this afternoon. IIRC opinion was a little divided on the subject. I just thought of something else I wanted to ask... The 'spare' way in the bungalow CU WAS used for power to the garage although no electricity has been...

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

I'm not actually at the bungalow at the moment, but when I'm next there I'll check out the CU. If it's not a split CU will I have to replace it before having the shed power installed?

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Sorry, forgot to say that my intention is to have RCD protection in the shed. One thing that bothers me after reading the threads this afternoon is the CU in the bungalow. Most recommendations on this forum say connect to the NON RCD side of the house CU. I'm not sure if the CU in the house is...

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

I reckon the overall distance from CU to CU is 45m - 15m through the loft, 30m outside. Haven't made a final decision on the size of the MCB yet, so any advice on that would also be greatly appreciated. See... I told you there were more questions...

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Thanks for your reply Adam. I've kind of settled on 6mm SWA, and I appreciate what you said, but let me just say what I 'possibly' intend to use the power supply to the shed for and then maybe yourself or someone else could advise whether I should move up to 10mm or not... The will be at...

    Hello... and... SHED Questions.

Hello everyone. I've read a great many threads on here this afternoon and have found it most informative. I appreciate everything that everyone has said about searching the forum, and about the new regulations, and about competence (or lack of it). I do, however, have one or two questions...
