1999 Vectra Fuel tank Leak (petrol)

It could be coming from the top of the tank where the fuel sensor sits. You can usually access this through a hatch under the rear seats. It might just be that needing a new seal, rather than a damaged tank.

    Nissan Primera C.O Problem

As you say it sounds like its running rich - but i would have thought something as bad as that would throw some kind of fault code. Have you tried looking at the igniton side of things - plugs/leads/coil/dizzy etc etc? Could be that youre getting a weak spark/no spark which would explain lumpy...

1999 VW polo excessive brake pedal travel

The pedal travel will always be longer with the servo assistance (less pedal effort required to push pedal a given distance) but isnt likely to be a servo fault imho - just makes the problem more noticeable. While you have the drums off also check the shoes arent binding on the backplate - but...

stupid thought, but can you answer it?

On some cars the ECU fault light comes on for a moment when the ignition is first switched on - if your car stops doing this then you know the light is faulty.

Corsa - Sluggish when cold, engine rattles at mid-high speed

Have a look for any air leaks around the manifold e.g. bad seal, split vacuum hose etc. Extra unmeasured airflow into the engine can cause erratic idle and maybe cause it to run lean at higher revs = pinking. Worth checking before replacing the IACV

1999 VW polo excessive brake pedal travel

I replaced the brake lines on a polo (1995 model though) and just bled the system at the wheels and pedal is nice and firm. The valves in the abs unit only open when the abs cuts in, so unless the bleed screw on the unit itself has been opened there shouldnt be air in there. Also feel the...

1999 VW polo excessive brake pedal travel

Has it got drums on the back? If so check the "automatic" adjusters - these sometimes stick or get clogged with brake dust so the shoes end up sitting a long way from the drum = long pedal travel to take up the slack. The abs shouldnt need bleeding unless you have opened the bleed screw on the...

VW POLO - noisey when cold

If its coming from the head is probably just a tappet as you said - maybe the oil feed lines are partially blocked with something - new oil & filter may help. If there is sludge inside the oil filler cap it may be a good idea to use engine flush additive to dissolve some of it before you drain...

RCD won't reset - weird symptoms

Checked RCD and it tripped just below 20mA. Replaced RCD and moved oven to non RCD side. Also found upstairs sockets were on the RCD and it looks like someone has borrowed a neutral from somewhere which allowed current to flow to the non RCD side - hence it tripped whenever any load was placed...

RCD won't reset - weird symptoms

Thanks for the suggestions - will try disconnecting the neutrals. I think whoever installed it put the over and water heater on the RCD because in the CU the side marked "not protected by rcd" is full, but maybe i could swap the oven to non rcd and make something like the upstairs sockets rcd...

RCD won't reset - weird symptoms

I've been having problems with the RCD tripping a couple of times over the last week or so, but each time I reset it it was ok for a couple of days. Now whenever i try to switch it back on, it just springs back. There are 4 circuits on the RCD - 2 socket circuits, oven and water heater. With...
