Spirotrap mb3 and flow restriction advice.

Thanks again for the reply. I was hoping for a more definative yes it would be ok or no you'll cause 'this' problem. The hassle of maybe having to restore the pipework if it doesn't work is putting me off just trying it. Also then it would be a 'used' spirotrap. It least just now I can sell...

Spirotrap mb3 and flow restriction advice.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think the boiler is that powerful, this page http://www.homeheatingguide.co.uk/efficiency-tables.php?model=001966 states about 17.5kW which I think equates to 60,000 BTU which, I presume is what the 60 in 60e stands for. The installation manual also states 22mm...

Spirotrap mb3 and flow restriction advice.

Hi. I recently bought a spirotrap mb3 22mm to install in my central heating. The flow and return pipes into and out of the top of my boiler (prima profile 60e) are 22mm, these go into tees which tee off straight into plasterboard. Unfortunately when I chopped out the plasterboard below...

    Boiler tripping on overheat

Yes. It's a bit awkward because all the valves and pumps are under the floor. Squeezed in this evening before my tests and tried to take the bypass valve out to check it (had plugged the vent and feed from tank). Couldn't get the valve out because the pipes were too rigid so instead closed it...

    Boiler tripping on overheat

It was either x600 or x800 can't remember. Two tubs poured into a radiator. System run for a week then ripped through each radiator one at a time before draining. Then inhibitor, x200 i think added. how does poor performing pump cause results 1 and 2 above?

    Boiler tripping on overheat

Hi, hopefully I can get some advice. My central heating boiler, Potterton Prima Profile 60E, keeps tripping on overheat. This is very regular, a lot of mornings the heating isn’t on because it tripped the night before. The system is s(?) plan, two motorised valved. I have checked the...

Please help me improve my home insulation.

Sorry, I'm struggling to visualise. Currently the knee wall is a sheet of plasterboard, not foil backed, followed by rockwool insulation between studs then loft space. So are you saying that the existing plasterboard should have had a foil backing or are you saying that I need to install a...

Please help me improve my home insulation.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still struggling to understand vapour barriers. In my house the plasterboard on the knee walls does not have a foiled back. So it appears to be, Inside, standard plasterboard, rockwool insulation, side loft space then roof wood. Is this as it shoul be? Same on the...

Please help me improve my home insulation.

Thank you Richard. For the floor between garage and bedroom I have decided to pull down the garage ceiling and insulate from below (based on having to re-plasterboard if I do a false ceiling anyway!). This morning I picked up 8 sheets of 140mm insulation boards (celotex and ecotherm), foil on...

Please help me improve my home insulation.

Thanks for the replies. Draught wise I think the downstairs is fairly ok. Being a farly new kit house it's not falling to bits and we had new windows and doors fitted a couple of years back. The only thing I'd like to do down stairs is insulate under the floorboards, but as I'm really not...

Please help me improve my home insulation.

Hi I’m hoping I can get some advice on how to improve my insulation situation. My house is a timber frame kit house approx 25 years old. It is ‘dormer’ type with the upstairs being within the roof. It is a large 6 bed house and difficult to heat. I have several issues that I need to deal...
