Took the rad off yesterday, water was clear till the very bottom which was black sludge, no smell, cleaned it up and put it back on, still noisy but not as bad.......yet!!

Sorry, that's right, the air from the rad blew out the match, it did not ignite! And yes, it does need bleeding mostly daily, definitely every two days. The top gets very cool, it is very noisy too, especially when the system first starts up.

Hi, there is a pressure valve which has to be replaced is set off, but this is still intact and unset. There is no info about a thermal valve in the book.
