    Refitting loose radiator

It seems I can get longer and thicker coach screws than the ones that came with the radiator, so that seems like a good bet to me. I really would rather not move the radiator itself. The screws came with wall plugs, so I would imagine they take plasplugs. Never used that brand before though.

    Refitting loose radiator

Thanks for the response. It's a good point. It's a 1m double panel double convector radiator. The current screws are coach screws, but I am not sure about the width. Probably 8mm width, I would guess. Maybe I should try 10mm ones then. I was just wondering if there is anything I can try in...

    Refitting loose radiator

Hi, I've noticed that the support brackets on one of my radiators is coming away from the wall slightly at the top of the bracket. It's attached to a brick wall. It's not by a huge amount, roughly 4mm, but it is definitely noticeable. I'm planning to take the radiator off and refit the...

    Renovate Victorian banisters

lol, fair enough. I suppose I was thinking that the newel posts would be the same as the handrails, but looking around it seems this is not always the case. If the spindles are white, then white newel posts goes pretty well too. Given the bottom newel post has had to be repaired, I think...

    Renovate Victorian banisters

Thanks JobAndKnock! Sounds like very helpful advice. Unfortunately, it is a newel post on one of the mahogany handrails. Any suggestions? It is annoying. In the past someone did a right job on this part of the banister.

The distance is not the same between all of them, but it is between 9cm - 10cm from the ones I have measured.

    Renovate Victorian banisters

Hi, I am soon going to start renovating the banister in my Victorian house. I recently had some install some new spindles, as the old ones were completely destroyed. These are still bare (pine) wood. The handrails and the newel posts are original. The handrails have been painted white at some...

Leaking Parapet Gutter - Fitted 3 years ago

Finally, in terms of the roof being old and not looking in great condition as a whole, here are some photos of the felt and the lead flashing on the chimney stack. As you can see the felt is not in great condition. Also the gap between the flashing and the tiles around the chimney seems large...

Leaking Parapet Gutter - Fitted 3 years ago

Here are some photos of the lead work around the area of the leak, including a close up of the suspect join. I can't see any cracks, but maybe I am missing something. One thing I haven't done is look at the join under the roof tile, which I suppose I should to too.
