    Dishwasher drain hose query

So i wouldn't need the loop on the back of the machine as well? I was going to extend the hose and run it under the kitchen units i.e. along the floor, then up the back of the sink unit and onto the drain spigot.

Hello I wonder if anyone could advise on a query for me. I am looking at installing a dishwasher, however it is not next to the sink. I was intending on purchasing a drain hose extension and have measured the route the hose could take under the kitchen units then over the hardboard back of...

    1976 House Wiring Question

This is also my own view on the situation. As a first step i will be doing some basic testing and inspection of the system myself. contintuity, insulation resistance and visual checks where possible. Then a consumer unit change, either by myself (after consulting the relevent building reg...

    1976 House Wiring Question

Thanks for the quick replies chaps. I am more than happy to change the consumer unit and am also more than capable of doing it myself and have already identified RCD protection as a must do job when we get moved in. Yes there does appear to be a shortage of sockets so will also need to add a...

    1976 House Wiring Question

I am currently in the process of buying a house built in 1976. I looked at the consumer unit and it is a grey metal box with bakelite circuit breakers in it. There was no sign of any RCD protection. I am wondering what are the chances of this property having aluminium wiring? Or is it...

    Replacement for Legrand RCD

I have a Legrand / Tenby CU which has a Legrand 80A 30mA RCD protecting the sockets. I am looking to replace the RCD as i believe it may be faulty. Lots of nuisance trips etc. I seem to be having trouble sourcing a Legrand/Tenby one. Is there another manufacturers RCD i can use which has the...

Ideal mini C28 pressure relief valve

I need to replace this part on my Ideal boiler. Is it just a case of draining the system down, unfastening the pipe that leads to the outside and then unscrewing the valve from the rest of the boiler??? I am also replacing the automatic air vent. Does this just unscrew from the plastic...

    Gully question

We are going to be having a small extension built to the rear of our property. We currently have a gully that the kitchen sink and washing machine drain into that will be inside the new extension. What would be the best way of leaving this gully with an inspection point/cover as it is going to...

Ideal Mini c28. CH not staying on

The noise does continue even if there is no power to the boiler. I have called the company that originally installed the boiler. My cousin actually fitted it as it was his business, but he has since sold his share to his partner who is coming to take a look this week. One thing i have...

Ideal Mini c28. CH not staying on

Thanks for the reply. How do i get to view the diagnostic LED's? I am pretty sure the flow limiter is what is making the noise. It has been doing it for a while. Thanks

Ideal Mini c28. CH not staying on

When i fire up the central heating, the boiler lights and runs but only for around 10 -20 seconds then the burner goes out. The pump sounds as though it is still running. Hot water seems fine but i think i do need to replace the flow limiter as it does whistle a bit. Could this be related...

    Ideal Mini Combi Boiler Squealing

As far as i can see the magnetic flow switch and filter screw into the end of the return manifold. But it i can't get to it because of the gas valves close proximity. If i remove the manifold itself then replace the flow switch/filter surely i don't need a gas fitter? I am an Electrician by...

    Ideal Mini Combi Boiler Squealing

I removed the DHW heat exchanger today and de-scaled it. Just to eliminate it from my enquiries. Put it back and the squealing is still there. Looks like i will have to get someone out. Any idea roughly how much i could be looking at for someone to remove the gas valve and replace the...

    Ideal Mini Combi Boiler Squealing

Thanks for the reply. I have tried what you have said and once the gas has gone out and the water is still running the noise is still there just the same as with the gas on. It also only makes the sound when using the upstairs hot water. Any other suggestions???? Cheers again
