    Thanks for the replies, having had a few replies, from this & other forums, it would seem that the 306 diesel generally has a heavy clutch. Probably, as you say Confuse, that the routing of the cable has to cope with two right angle bends on its way to the gearbox.

    l have a Peugeot 306 Turbo diesel (1.9 1997 R plate) prior to this l had Vauxhall Corsa diesels. The clutch pedal in the Peugeot seems to be much harder to depress than the Vauxhall, to such an extent that by the end of the working week l have knee ache! l have had the clutch cable replaced...
