Electrician asking for more money - is this reasonable?

The quote consisted of an email only with the price - not itemised/professional, but I thought it was acceptable. The work hasn't changed - in fact, it's become less complicated as he originally thought he'd have to cut channels through the ceiling beams to chase the cables for the lights...

Electrician asking for more money - is this reasonable?

Hello, I have an electrician onsite performing some work. He initially quoted me three days to perform the work, believing that he would have to damage some of the ceiling to complete the project successfully (installing downlights). He also agreed to perform some additional work (installing...

    Immersion heater temperature problems

The loo is just the other side of the left hand wall in the photo...I expect any outflow pipe could just be fed into the waste trap there. Is 210 litres a standard size? What sizes do they generally come in? Would it affect my water pressure (mains water pressure)?

    Immersion heater temperature problems

I forgot to check the mixing valve this morning. However, if I did decide to swap the thermal store for a 'normal' immersion heater, can anyone tell me roughly how much replacing this might cost me? Parts and labour?

    Genius! Will do, thanks :D

    Immersion heater temperature problems

Ah yes, that makes sense. No, the overfill didn't trip - I guess if it did the coil might be leaking somewhere?

    Immersion heater temperature problems

@Agile - According to the manual the temp of the store should be set to 75 degrees (as it now is), but the water coming out is limited to 51 degrees "to avoid scalding". I'm more than happy to consider replacing it, however as I live in a flat I don't think I'm allowed to run an outflow. Do...

    Immersion heater temperature problems

Thanks Picasso. Ok so I've used it twice now - and while it seemed to run hotter the first time, the same problem occurs - the water gets cold quickly. What should I check/replace first? What's cheaper??!

    Immersion heater temperature problems

Thanks picasso - that's really helpful! So either the store is not hot enough to maintain its heat past a couple of showers, or the mixing valve is letting too much cold water in? I notice from here that the mixing valve outputs water at 51 degrees. Is this standard?

    Immersion heater temperature problems

Thanks Picasso. I've adjusted the temp up a bit to see what happens. I also removed the top from the cylinder and took the top off the chamber to take a look. I can see the sensor for the overfill switch but no fill line inside. Which part is the mixing valve? What I assume is the fill loop...

    Immersion heater temperature problems

Ha! That's 20 mins total...so can be spread between showers or just for one ;) @Jeff The shower is a two-tap design with a hose to the shower head - correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this can suffer from faulty thermostatic cartridge. @Picasso - if I increase the temp any more...

    Immersion heater temperature problems

If you mean the two pipes carrying water - the one with the 'dog tag' on it (exits the cylinder in the centre) is carrying hot water out. The other one is 'cold water in' - this is connected to the overfill switch so that the cylinder stops filling when it's tripped. The make is 'Tristor'. I...

No, my flat is fully electric.

    Immersion heater temperature problems

Hi all I moved into a flat 3 weeks ago and have been having problems with the temperature of my immersion heater. Background I am on Economy 7, so I have two elements - one half way up the tank for 'peak' times (this just heats the top half of the tank), and one at the bottom which comes...
