Smoke coning from Hotpoint washing machine.

We bought a new Hotpoint NSWR963C WK washing machine in May this year. We have found that while everything works fine on most settings, whenever we use the fast 1600rpm spin, there's a stench and smoke coming out of the machine when at the end of it's cycle. This doesn't happen when using slower...

Magnabooster - Do we need this device?

Thanks for the replies folks, I need to research and think about this some more. When the new boiler was installed 3 years ago, all the pipework and radiators were replaced too. There was very little in the way of sludge, mostly just a bit black water & that was from a system installed over 40...

Magnabooster - Do we need this device?

Today, just 5 days after we had our boiler serviced by British Gas, we received a quote for the installation of a Magnabooster into our water system. I do remember the engineer mentioning a device for collecting sludge, but I certainly didn't respond or ask for a quote. Our heating system...

Hole in Roof at Gas Boiler Flue

Appreciate your reply, it's along the lines of what we were beginning to think. At first we were happy with him "having a word", but later felt uneasy that there mightn't be any record of the "repair" that we could refer to in the event of any leaks / damage. We'll take your advice.

Hole in Roof at Gas Boiler Flue

Just over a year ago we had our 1 year old gas boiler moved from the attic end wall into the airing cupboard upstairs. This was carried out by a team of British Gas installers and the flue was put up through the tiled pitched roof. Yesterday, British a Gas service engineer came to carry out an...

    Sticking Toilet Cistern Flush

Appreciate the reply. Sorry, but I've no idea how to get at the cistern. The shelf above might have to be removed, but the hand basin is seated on that.

    Sticking Toilet Cistern Flush

No idea. A bathroom design company fitted everything and we didn't get a chance to see inside. As I said, it's usually easily stopped by a second push of the button, but my wife is thinking of changing it to a handle flush & that sounds expensive.

    Sticking Toilet Cistern Flush

We had a new bathroom fitted 2 years ago and opted for an enclosed toilet cistern with a front push button flush. The flush button is chrome plated and about 75mm dia in total. There's an outer ring which presumably holds the assembly in place and there's a larger push button with a small...
