Turning existing block shed into office/workshop - damp

It was already built when I bought the house about 18 months ago, but I am fairly certain it was built at the same time as the extension to our house, so only a few year ago. Outside is rendered and then painted. Yes there is a DPC - I think it can be seen on some of the photos I...

Turning existing block shed into office/workshop - damp

The shed is approx 3 metres deep by 3.5 metres wide At the highest point it is 2.4 metres and at the shortest it is 2.2 metres I haven't really set a budget, as i figured it will cost what it costs and it will just have to take longer if it starts getting expensive.

How do I add window to block shed

I have an existing single skin block shed and I have no windows in this at the moment but would like to add at least one, just wondering what I would need to do in order to do this as ideally I would to do this myself rather than pay someone to come in and do it. Thanks

Turning existing block shed into office/workshop - damp

I have an existing block shed at the end of my garden that I am hoping to turn into an office / workshop for my wife. It is single layer of block and the roof is slate at the moment. Currently just used for storage / tools / motorbike so never paid much attention to it's condition before...

How to diagnose the source of damp

That's great advise and is muh appreciated I have never noticed any water or moisture on the walls, they never really feel wet to the touch either, at most the just feel cold to me. I originally thought it was condensation as the rooms that are affected are one that have now had their...

How to diagnose the source of damp

Finally had some people look over the patches, roofer said the roof was perfect so water wasn't getting on that way. The outside render appears to be fine too. The plasterer I have now had round thinks that it is because the previous owners have not accounted for the walls being solid and...

How to diagnose the source of damp

I have had a look and it is plasterboard and sounds very hollow behind it. I have not yet been able to get up a ladder to look at the render higher up the wall as it looks fine around the areas where these marks are appearing. The roof doesn't seem to have any obvious defects, but I am...

How to diagnose the source of damp

Thanks for the replay, any help is much appreciated as I have no idea what to look into. I will get out and have a look at the slates tomorrow, looks ok from ground level but I will get up a ladder and see. The chimney breast in the pic is only in one room that is getting the marks...

How to diagnose the source of damp

Bought a house about 10 month ago, moved in around October with no problems and no signs of any problems and the survey came back fine. Since moving in a large number of patches have appeared in some rooms of the house and I am assuming they are caused by some form of damp. I really don't...
