    Damp proof membrane

I'm new to this forum and appear to be unable to create a new topic - so I'll pop my query here and maybe someone will see it. Situation: I'm renovating an end terraced house that is about 115 years old (9 inch brick) . The kitchen extension is made of stone, built by the occupants in about...

    Is this subsidence?

only area of serious concern to be honest, there's some damp inside but appears to be condensation rather than anything. Do you have any idea of repair cost, should it be what you said? Many thanks.

    Is this subsidence?

Hello. We have just put in an offer on a house in north wales which has been accepted. It does need some work internally, which I can handle, but can anyone tell me what’s happening to the brickwork – please see pics below: You may have to enlarge the pics to see. They are dropping down in...

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

Hi mate what's your definition of "plenty" of water? I pushed the pin in got some water out, enough to make me need to wipe it off and not want let any more to come out! Would you say I should have left it for longer, say a few seconds?

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

So, just incase any of you folk are interested, here's what the result was: The actuator was goosed. Once I took the control box off I could see inside the actuator, the plastic cam type thing that's attached to the motor was snapped inside (see pic). The valve itself had plenty of free...

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

Many thanks for assistance here - most helpful. Oilhead I have found an online firm selling this part for £30, or £50 at my local plumbase... seems reasonable. Unfortunately I've found another issue today which I guess explains the pressure loss. This morning I charged the system back to...

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

Thanks for the info. Yes we do have hot water, although it goes cold after a while. For example when we shower, by the end of the shower we have the heat turned right up and it's almost cold. We then have to wait for the water to heat up again.

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

I haven't actually dismantled the appliance to get to the actuator yet. I'm trying to decide whether I need to replace just the actuator, the whole assembly or would be better with an engineer visit. What you've said there makes sense. In which case, am I right in saying that replacing the...

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

Hi, just wondering if anyone could help me. I have a heatslave 20/25 oil fired boiler. Yesterday it started rattling. Closer inspection revealed that the sound is coming from the Actuator. At best it's a buzzing sound, at worst, it sounds like someone is firing an AK-47 off. The sound...
