    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

Yes, the company I work for and many others in the area use their services for testing and inspection, ranging from EICRs, PATs, Alarm systems, emergency light systems, etc. They cover all sorts including industrial, domestic, public and private buildings and are members of all the relevant...

    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

My apologies, once again I'm mis-interpreting what you're saying. I've already done this. I have been in contact with a local certifier who are happy to carry out the test and inspections. All I've done so far physically is site boxes and prepare my cable routing. When I mean doing every single...

    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

Once they're at heat though they're good to go and can stay that way. Just pop in a bromine tab every now and then and empty it when you know it'll just stand for long periods without use. I've learned that from when my in-laws had one many years ago just as basic maintenance.

    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

Yes, sorry ban, to be a bit clearer I will be using a third-party certifier to meet the needs of Part P where I have not used a registered electrician to do the installation. My phrasing isn't great. My building inspector has told me that all they will need at the end is the EICR or similar...

    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

It is always worth deferring to an electrician, or at least getting their advice and ensuring you follow part P to the letter when it comes to installing and testing final circuits. My main exposure is for indoor circuits so when it comes to parts outside of that remit I don't keep tabs on...

    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

Thanks woody, that's the only sort of info I'm really after and ties in with what I would do *if* I opted to not have the facilities for a hot tub. My trepidation mainly comes from the fact that I do know that I want to add a hot tub in future, however I don't know what the market is like and...

    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

I tried to be polite, but from looking at that linked thread, I won't accept a response from you Risteard or put up with your sh*t attitude towards people.

    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

Sorry but as usual I've gained nothing from that thread, as is the case with most electrical threads where people start getting p*ssy and resort to sh*t-flinging and one-upping each other. I lost interest after the second page unfortunately. I know this is a very difficult task to ask for an...

    Wiring new SWA outdoor circuit

Hi all, I’m currently in the process of a rear extension being completed on my house, and I’m at the point of sorting my electrical circuits out. As this is all being covered under notifiable works to be signed off by the building inspector I figured doing every single circuit now and getting a...

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

Well the amended scheme means 5m downstairs and 3m up, which I'm hoping is acceptable, but planning permission states that between 3-6m downstairs requires neighbour consultation. As I said before, the problem was with upstairs being too big (especially when the neighbour who complained that...

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

I'm currently at the second stage of planning permission with my council. If it gets rejected again then it goes to appeal.

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

I think I've got the information I need anyway. The council and the neighbours were disputing my original upstairs plan as it was at 4m, but as I've shaved it back to within the confines of PD (and it doesn't protrude beyond the neighbours house anymore), I'll just have to see what the decision...

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

And that's because the 2 storey 3m falls under PD right? Would it be important to do it in that order? In my case could I build the 2 storey 3m under PD and then submit the 5m alone which would only mean extending the ground floor by 2m?

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

So I had a very quick look over the case mentioned, and from what I gathered from it (I'm currently working so cannot read it in full): the applicant originally had a 2 storey extension under PD/PP the applicant wanted to extend the ground floor further, but falling under PD it got refused by...

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

This is the crux of it. I understand rules have to be set somewhere, but then under PD just set it hard and fast to say "you can only go out x metres from rear boundary MAX (for 1 or 2 storeys), anything else falls under PP.", don't start creating all these wishy-washy conditions that say you...

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

Ok cool, I only wanted to clarify that that's what you meant, I didn't mean any offense or snarky tone. In keeping with my original point, I only mean to highlight that the amended regulation for permitted development makes absolutely no sense to me based on what I want. I can do 3 top and...

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

Do you mean protrudes more than 3m? Otherwise you're wrong. Lifted from https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/17/extensions "An extension or addition to your house is considered to be permitted development, not requiring an application for planning permission, subject...

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

It was considered to have too much of an impact in the public realm. But I imagine that the neighbour's complaint may have had some sway, but the council couldn't elaborate on whether it did or not, just that it was deemed too much. Considering you can barely see the back of my house from public...

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

Could you elaborate? All I can infer from that is that you mean that each development is treated under its own merits by the authority that approves the planning application. If that's the case then in my opinion it completely undermines the rules set out by regulation.

Permitted Development/Planning Permission interpretation of 2 storey extension

Here's where it gets worse for me. Originally, I was cheeky and asked for 4m upstairs. Our attached neighbours have no issues whatsoever and let the council know as such when they received the letter. Our non-detached neighbours complained that the 4m upstairs would stick out 1m further than...
