    Bath thingy

I want to replace the bath thingy. Not sure what it's official name is but I'm talking about the chrome strainer where the plug itself sits. Mine has a screw in the middle. It's it just a case of unscrewing that and replacing with a suitable sized new one. Or will the unscrewing cause the bit...

    Hotpoint BF1620 wont work

MY daughter is having problems with her dishwasher. There is a switch in the door which she switches to on (a light then comes on) but when she closes the door nothing happens, I presume she's done everything else right. Btw - will these dishwashers work if there is no salt in them?

    Light in walk in cupboard

Apparently I had connected everything right. Electrician came in and couldn't find a problem until he went into the socket and found that the supply lead to my FCU was brittle and broke off when he was checking things out. HE sorted that all out reconnected everyhting in the way I had done and...

    Light in walk in cupboard

John - as per later posts I'm getting an electrician in but do you know what the problem is?

    Light in walk in cupboard

I'd actually redone that after I had taken the photo. It probably wasn't under the screw but it was a lot further in. There's an earth from supply going to FCU. No earth from load. There's an earth connecter on the FCU where the earth from the supply went. There is also an earth on the...

    Light in walk in cupboard

Right latest saga - after taking the light switch off to photograph for one of the posts I put it back. Followed the instructions and same wires went in same holes. Still the same effect red lamp comes on when no bulb in but light and bulb don't work when there is one in. The wall socket...

    Light in walk in cupboard

OK Will do, but I took the supply (from the socket) and put the red supply in the hole that says supply L the black in supply N and then red Load into Load L and black load into LOad N. Am I getting my supply and load mixed up? Having googled it I don't think I am. Not in a position to...

    Light in walk in cupboard

BUMP!!!! OK I have now connected the wires that were in the back of the double socket. The earth was already connected so I've put the red wire with the othe 2 red wires and the black with the other 2 black. These lead now to a fused switch. I believe it's a 20amp switch but I've put a 3...

Thanks. Plug is a last resort (having to trail it through a door etc etc) - I presume the fused connection unit would bee 3 amps as well?

    Light in walk in cupboard

Probably down to my misuse of words. I meant the thing on the wall with the rectangular holes in it. This socket is adjacent to said cupboard and apparently the light was wired up to it. The wiring as I understand again still is in the the socket but has been disconnected. If it were to be...

    Light in walk in cupboard

I have got a large walk in cupboard off my living room in a tenement flat. The cupboard has a light switch and a light!! It doesn't work and the reason I'm told, when I had the electrics check, is that it has been disconnected from the plug socket it was wired into. This was because of current...
