allen key bit in window restrictor

Mmm. Thanks. But do you think the allen bolt removal will remove that little metal bit allowing the bar to slide out? Because it does seem to be designed that way.

allen key bit in window restrictor

Think after all the hacksaw talk, I'm becoming more sure that allen bolts removal will just take out the metal bit stopping the bar from coming out.

allen key bit in window restrictor

Been a bit busy, think I love the planning more than doing. But really? It's just a metal surely if there's supposed metal glue it can be glued back? What's the reasoning? Would an epoxy do? Cheers.

allen key bit in window restrictor

Btw here's a pic that may reveal what the allen bolt does.

allen key bit in window restrictor

Yeah maybe. Though just for knowkedge you couldn't let me know? I thinka hinge in laymans terms could be the hinges on each side or possible bar restrictor. Also if I ever wanted to glue it back together if I do the saw option what metal glues would you reccomend?

allen key bit in window restrictor

Well this sounds like the right method if it works. Theres just (that) one allen bolt and then screws attaching the gate to the wood and the whole gate is melded to the structure anyway. So the sash is that metal bar? What does hinges refer to? The bits on the two farthest sides of the window.

allen key bit in window restrictor

Cheers and cheers for the link, I didn't know whether I was allowed to post it. But what's the opening sash? I thought we were calling the metal bar a restrictor or stay/keep. But what's the actual function for that allen bolt?

allen key bit in window restrictor

The keep, the stay, the restrictor already slides back and forth. It's only got half an inch more to go. And out od interest how wpuld one take the whole pane of glass, the actual window, off this thing?

allen key bit in window restrictor

Hey guys before I buy some tools tomorrow do you what the hexagonal allen key bolt on this window of mine will do if removed. Its the same windoq as the post How to Cut a Metal Bar in Half in the tools section and the pictures are there.

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

Guys the only thing I want to know now is what does removing the hexagonal bit do (on it's own)? Then I'll either get on with removing the restrictor by the hexagonal bit removal if that works and if not then saw it off and probably get some metal glue in case I want to change it back in the future.

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

Dave, do you have a pic or a link to your type of hacksaw? I'll just search it now but what is a motor factor? Is it a smaller screwdriver? Oh and again same thing with the hexagonal allen key part is that anti clockwise turning too?

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

So guys do you get mini torx screwdrivers because literally the windows going to get in the way of any 8 inch plus screwdriver. And what way to bolts and screws usually turn to get them off. So that I know to keep on going in one direction and not supertighten etc accidentally so that it...

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

You know when the gate comes off ie the restrictor is dealt with will the window actually go out much further anyway or are the bits that attach it to the wall restrictive too?

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

Mmm. What size do you think that hexagonal allen recess is and what's the torx size do you think?
  16. M

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

Yep it's hexagonal. And as for the screws that are nailing the gate into a wooden frame (of the overall window) they appear to have a star shaped recess. As you see in the picture I'd probably need a short screwdriver right (for the star shaped screws) because the window itself doesn't extend to...

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

Makes sense. So where is the gate in the picture and what is a gate technically? And what's a torx/allen bolt? Cheers. And just to be sure once the restrictor isn't a problem these windows will freely open a bit more and won't just stay fixed due to some other construction of it? I'd assume so...

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

Interesting. I assume the diagonal business doesn't make a difference. Cheers.

How to cut in half a thick metal bar.

And I'll probably have to cut it diagonally if you know what I mean because the window blocks me from turning to make it perpendicular to the bar. Is that all good? But isn't the sound of a hacksaw quite painful and loud ie metal on metal, I imagine?
