7 Ah lead acid sealed battery advice please.

You do talk rubbish Simon. I suggest you learn about a subject before making assumptions.

7 Ah lead acid sealed battery advice please.

Simon, the charge Voltage per cell is a lot higher for wet cell batteries than for AGM batteries..as a result they can be charged to full capacity a lot faster than AGM batteries..it's one of the few things that gives them the edge in certain applications.

Long Extension for a leaf blower

I suggest that you re-read the Health and Safety at work Act and the Management of health and Safety at Work Regulations, along with the Electricity at Work Act. Whilst I grant you it does not specifically state 110V CTE equipment MUST be used, it clearly states that in the workplace all...

    Shower switch wiring

Bernard...please don't be facecious...in the real world of course things are not as simple. The resistance is marginally variable and as has been established voltage varies. I fixed the load for example purposes to 9.5kW because it saved getting over technical....and to be honest I was being a...

7 Ah lead acid sealed battery advice please.

Simon...AGM are better batteries..but you are conveniently ignoring the comments about selecting a battery designed for the use you intend to put it too, the fact that a flooded cell battery has a higher charge rate than an AGM battery is a plus for conventional wet cell batteries that means for...

    SWA

MK units date back to the late 1960's..have no idea when Mennekes starts making them, I did not see their offerings in the UK until after I spent 5 years in Canada in the late 1980's-mid 1990's. IT people tend to call them CEEform but sparks tend to call them Commando's

    Shower switch wiring

You didn't follow the conversation did you...we did not use a fixed resistance for the calculations or the discussion, but it was fixed at 9.5kW for the power... If we fix the resistance then the current drawn will increase with a change in the voltage, that is correct, but for the purposes of...

    SWA

I hope you are not a practicing electrician. No decent spark would ever terminate SWA into an IEC60309 plug...commonly referred to as a Commando due to the very successful MK range that started it all... If you think that level of work is acceptable I am pleased I don't employ you...because you...

In this instance we were not discussing showers, but his idea that current increases with voltage, which is does not.

    Garden Wiring - RCD Question

Please stop commenting on something you clearly have little technical knowledge of. Your remark is unclear and fitting the FCU (Spur) to the SWA feed to the shed, thus leaving the shed fed via the ring is simply BAD PRACTICE

    Seems a bit exaggerated.

Far better and easier ways of achieving the same..as for the article...load of *******s. It's not NPower (British gas) but my other half has a Nest that controls her Vaillant boiler and has not issues at all.

    Shower switch wiring

    Which Universe does that apply too? Here is an example.. 9.5kW / 220V = 9500/220 = 43.18A 9.5kW / 230V = 9500/230 = 41.3A 9.5kW / 240V = 9500/240 = 39.58A 9.5kW / 250V = 9500/250 = 38A

    Garden Wiring - RCD Question

The SWA feeding the shed is OK as a choice of cable, but feeding it from your ring main is bad practice and could cause you problems. I would recommend extending the circuit back to the consumer unit and put it on a dedicated RCD or an RCBO in the consumer unit (if room to fit another). The...

RCCB tripping when changing socket with power off?

You killed the electrical supply...but the Neutral and the earth are still connected. You must have touched the earth and neutral, or touched the bare copper of the neutral with your fingers or something which earthed it out. The toroid measuring the voltage on the conductors (phase and...

    Shower switch wiring

I would agree with Simon. Crabtree do not get the recognition they deserve. When I was new to the industry back in the very early 1980's it was always a choice between Crabtree or MK... MK stole a march for a long time and Crabtree seemed to go into the doldrums, but the quality of their wiring...

Winston's view and opinion is irrelevant.. the regs are what they are... If the resistance is fixed...if it is a moving target then No...I was speaking specifically about a fixed resistance. See the comment I have inserted... I stand by my comment about DAFT!! :)

7 Ah lead acid sealed battery advice please.

Simon, of course they are, but your average Joe on the street does not understand the difference between AGM units and conventional "Lead-Acid" batteries. They do not call them AGM and Flooded cell in the shops and most people would not have a clue...so I stuck with generic terminology for...
