Connecting cast iron (?) high level flush pipe to cemented in toilet pan

Many thanks. I should add I have removed more gubbins around the connection, and it looks like the (imperfect) underlying connection between the flush pipe and the toilet pan is made out of lead.

Connecting cast iron (?) high level flush pipe to cemented in toilet pan

Hi We have an old (1930s?) WC with a high level cistern connected to a metal (cast iron?) flush pipe. The pipe goes down the wall (bolted into place) and then turns 90 degrees just behind the toilet pan and connects to the pan horizontally. The connector is very old and disintegrating, this has...

Only some rads warming up, CH pump not operating (?), red light on CH pump relay

Thanks, I moved both valves to manual 'open' position in the notch and tried everything again - exactly the same symptoms. Then I moved levers back to auto 'off', and started CH - no movement in levers, no signs of life from pump.

    Humidistat working backwards?

Thanks all, It does sound like it's been fitted backwards but John your suggestion we would be better off with a thermostat, as what we are actually battling is lower temperatures in the roof space, rather than varying levels of humidity in the body of the building, makes sense. I might not go...

    Humidistat working backwards?

Hi, we have a village hall type building, brick built with a corrugated metal roof and suspended ceiling. We suffer from condensation dripping down from the metal roof and damaging the ceiling tiles. A few years ago we fitted extractor fans in the roof space set on a timer to run overnight...

    Loft insulation advice

Hi I am planning to top up the existing loft insulation. Joists are 100mm high and about 330mm apart. Current insulation is old, between 50mm and 80mm deep (yes, I know). I'm not keen on removing the existing insulation unless I really have to. So options seem to be: a) Lay 100mm loft roll...
