As I said before the pointing has been redone and wall has been waterproofed. The chimney was also re flashed 2 years ago. It is capped. Let me know if you have further questions

Also - Of interest - there is no damp on any of the other 5 chimney breasts in the house, just this one on the top floor. If this is useful info

Out of interest - if one of the fire places was reopened and back in use - would this resolve all issues since presumably they re itself is what traditionally stopped this damp occurring? ( or am I being v naive?)

Interesting . So if we re pointed in August - it's possible the bricks are drying out still? Would the pointing impact the chimney itself?

Also - when the wall went damp originally it was the whole wall - not just the chimney breast - and it was black and wet. Hence why we fixed the pointing. Now it's just the chimney......

Also - do you think a dehumidifier will slow the damp or quicken it?
