Here is a picture of where the heat link is from my boiler. It is 20cm away from the top of the boiler.

Hi everyone just giving you all an update I followed mikeyd instructions and installed my nest successfully. I put the heat link 20cm away from the boiler and everything is working ok. Thanks for everyone's help.

Thanks for that info bernardgreen I think I've found a way round this. I will run a longer 4 core cable from the boiler to the heat link receiver and put the heat link on top of the cupboard next to the boiler which will give me more than 30cm distance from the boiler.

Ok thanks for the pic. I can see your heatlink is the recommended 30cm away from the boiler. I'll try and find out more info about why it has to be 30cm away from the boiler.

You can buy the cable in any diy store it's called a 4 core cable because there is also an earth cable in the cable but you don't need to use it if not needed.

The problem I've got is that my boiler is in a cupboard that is quite small and the only place I can see where I can put the heatlink is the top left corner which has the furthest distance from the boiler. I'm attaching some pics so you can see what I mean. When I checked the nest install...

I think I've figured his out just need confirmation from someone before I go ahead. I think I remove the loop wire going from 3 and 4 terminal in the boiler then just leave the timer function on the front of the boiler in the middle position the sun. What does anyone think about this. Thanks

Ok thanks to both of you for the info I think I'll go for the vrt 30 thermostat I'll just make sure the store still has it in stock and also replace the 110 timerswitch

I did notice that the vrt 30 was showing as obsolete in most places but I did find one place that was still selling it because I thought the vrt 50 wasn't compatible with the 110 timerswitch.

Oh ok I never read anywhere that there size was different that explains why I need to stick with the the original 110 timerswitch model. One more question which I think I know the answer to but just wanted some confirmation will the vrt 30 thermostat control work with this 110 timerswitch...

Ok thank you I thought that the 150 timerswitch would work because it says it works on all combi boilers but I'll stick with the 110 timerswitch. I'll let you know if the new unit will solve the problem.

Hi again all any more news on this I just want to confirm if the time dial on the timeswitch is supposed to move because on its own because mine doesn't and I think this is why the timer function is not working. Thank you.
