    Label printer opinions

Heloo I'm in the market for lashing out on a label printer but don't know where to start. Can anyone recommend a product that they're happy with, that'll print labels both for flat surfaces and also for cables? Thanks.

    ADP8242 Dishwasher

Sorry Dlowes. My personal expertise is not with white goods, but it appears that t-watt is a moderator on another web site, and that there are lots of answers there if you don't find one here. I'm not encouraging you to leave the forum you understand, I just know my limitations and am aware...

Ah - I got that wrong. Apparently he can help, but he won't because of something that a moderator has done, or not done, or written, or not written.

    Apparently he can't.

XP won`t boot on new PC

You're attempting something that Microsoft doesn't support - you can't expect this to work, although in practise it often does. You have three choices: 1. Having determined which driver is causing the problem, put the HDD in the new PC, and, if you can boot to safe mode, do so and then...

    Leaky motorized valve

Perhaps, but do you have any hard figures on the ratio of pipework with some/zero play in it? In my experience it's about one in fifty, so in the vast majority of cases it's quicker and easier to fit a new valve, with the added benefit of having a new valve.

Help - heating driving me crazy

The divertor valve in a combi boiler system acts to divert the heat energy either to DHW (domestic hot water) or to CH (central heating), but not both. The design is such that a demand for DHW takes priority over demand for CH. This is mostly because very much more heat energy is needed to...

    Hot water takes ages

The great idea is still great, IMHO, and chrishutt's secondary pumped circuit is one that I've seen implemented to good effect. A customer called me because the loop wasn't working, and I find the fault that was subsequently put right by the installer. I then tweaked the system so that the...

    Testing night storage heaters

Thank you - that's EXACTLY what I was supposed to be doing! Correct - once again you've confirmed that I did what I was employed to do and didn't do what I was neither employed nor legally entitled to do. Fine - if the non-apprentice hadn't f*cked his back up then he would have been there...

    Testing night storage heaters

Well although you meant that to be sarcastic, you are indeed a silly billy. You made assumptions and jumped to conclusions, all in pursuit of telling that me that you thought I'd broken the law. I haven't, but even if I did, the topic was never intended to invite your view on the matter, or...

    Testing night storage heaters

The heaters do not become "on the consumer's side of the electricity supply" until they become connected to that supply - except for a temporary connection, for testing purposes, this has not been done by me and will not be done by me. I don't agree with your interpretation - the wording of...

    Testing night storage heaters

No arguments with that, but all I've done is mount them on the wall, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and then test them. Oh, and heave a lot of bricks around - possibly I could have been arrested for indecent amounts of heavy breathing in the shared corridors. I am competent, I'm just...

    Testing night storage heaters

At least that part's clear. But now... What part of my work was notifiable? And, if it was notifiable, what is your reason for thinking that I shouldn't have done it? There seem to be quite a few assumptions in your thinking b-a-s - the kind of thinking that's more dangerous than...

    Testing night storage heaters

OK. I've never hidden that fact. Correct, but this is getting tedious. I disagree - please feel free to be specific. In the meantime, although it's not relevant to anything, it isn't my property, and I'm not going to be letting it. Is this your thing b-a-s? You look for topics on...

    Testing night storage heaters

The appliances are in a rented flat, about 13 miles from where I live. The flat is unoccupied, with tenants moving in next week. I needed to get the work done today, and didn't want to have to go back again, especially in t' middle of t' night. So, I bought one of these from RS components...

    Testing night storage heaters

I've installed some Dimplex 2.5 Kw slimline storage heaters, the wiring having being done already. I'd like to test the heaters during the peak period - can I just wire up a plug to the heater cord and plug it in? I'm working on the basis of I = P/V = 2500/230 = 10.87A. Is there any...
