garden (snooker) building, how to meet regs

It's an interesting question which I did have a look at recently when I was going to build a shed. I think definitely Part A Structure. The Approved doc actually makes reference to outbuildings (eg thickness of walls) so I think this is a definite. As the regulations say anything within 1m of...

Virus lifespan on surfaces and in air explained

motorbiking seems to know what he's talking about. The simple message (to those of us who don't) is that this virus can last long enough on commonly found surfaces to become a potential source of new infection in a human host. So regularly clean these surfaces (worktops, cutlery, door...

    Builders not interested

That mixamate outfit has a powered barrow. It's a cracking bit of kit, bloke stands on back of it and drives it to where it's needed then dumps it in the hole. Goes through a doorway too. They will charge you extra for that but it's a lot lot less than a pump and the bloke will give you the...

    Builders not interested

We've had similar problems with getting people interested when there is limited access and long way from a road. So we did it ourselves. Problems: Getting digger in, getting earth out, getting concrete in. 1) Hire a digger, they can go through doors now. 2) Hire a powered barrow, they can go...

    planning permission

Of course there is a way of knowing, you apply for it and find out whether it gets approved. You don't have to be the owner of a house to apply for planning permission. Basic stuff.

    Whats this cable?

The csa of these cables are nominal values so a bit like mains voltage being stated to be 230v when in practice its allowed to be a bit off. If the measurement is correct then the csa of the relevant cable is approx 2.25mm2 which fits in 2.5+/-10% (just).

Extension built over drainage T-junctions - no access to manholes...

There are one way valve type things you can put in drains which claim to keep rats out but I have no idea how effective they are in practice. If that stops them getting in then the next stage is to clear them out. A man might not want to crawl into the void but I'm sure a terrier wouldn't...
