    Downlights stopped working

Hi Hoping for a clue. All 5 Down lights in hall stopped working suddenly after fine for 8 yrs. As far as I can see it’s 1 transformer (35-105w 240 to 11.5v) with 5 20w halogens in parallel (daisy chain?) I assumed transformer issue so replaced like for like no joy. When I switch light...

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

Cheers. I'm panicking now. Do I have to change both valves? If I just change the one at the cold side I can isolate and then not have to drain the system? I guess there is a reason to have both valves though.. I've looked on line and there is a service valve that looks exactly the same as an...

Is there a chemical I should put into the system once I've fixed the leak to de-sludge?

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

Latest news : there is a very small leak coming from the cold mains into the fill loop. 1 drop every 5 seconds. There is a slightly bigger leak coming from the ch flow side of the fill loop (had said ch return before but realised it's the ch water out the boiler not that it really matters or...

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

I wonder if there is a leak from the valve between the cold mains in and the filling loop? I checked and nothing, but there was a small leak from the valve between the hot water return and the filling loop, and I'm wondering if, when hot water fills the filling loop and hits the valve at the...

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

Jon I've appreciated the help as I've said already. Also, can u point out from my last thread where I questioned advice? I just wat to understand better as I'm interested. And anyway if I hadn't questioned someone's advice at the start of this I would have replaced my expansion vessel for no...

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

I think it's too much of a coincidence that something goes wrong first time I dabble with it all after 4 happy yrs! I appreciate that I shouldn't be able to break it though... Just wondering if it is worth running the heating, whilst not using hot water to c if pressure rises? Dunno what that...

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

Thanks guys. Why do you think this failed ? It must have been something I did as it was fine for 4 yrs then I did what I said at the start of this thread... And when u say failed, it's a leak right? Roughly what do u think total price would b if this is the prob? Cheers

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

Hi Jon found a slot to turn off for 24hrs. The pressure didn't rise with the boiler switched off and cold mains off also. Its a valliant 831. Wife and I are arguing over whether or not the trickling sound from boiler that lasts about 3 seconds when heating is on (or maybe water e.g Dishwasher)...

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

The is a small leak in the valve on the filling loop at the heating return end but the end of the loop at the mains is fine so I can't imagine this is an issue? Having heating AND water off for a couple of days is not fun with a 1 and 3 yr old in the house! When u say to isolate mains cold Jon...

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

Thanks guys. I will try your idea Jon when I get in. I don't understand how a faulty expansion vessel would make the system pressure rise gradually over days. Wouldn't it just be that the pressure would rise much more when heating was on but fall back down when cold?

    Valiant combo pressure keeps rising

Hi The pressure goes up gradually overall and have to bleed every 3 days or so. It goes up when heating is on and down when not but overall it keeps rising. I disconnected the filling loop. - it's a gas combi about 4 yrs old - I tried to get a non working rad working by bleedin it then turning...
