Uneven floors - self level or ply subfloor?

Admittedly I havent asked them her but I will! Out of interest. Is the reason it might cup because of slow moisture ingress from the screed into the underside of the ply?

Uneven floors - self level or ply subfloor?

Currently carpeted. The flooring going down is 10mm engineered parquet. The ply sub only needs to be about 9mm thick, I will glue the parquet to it (preferred method of the manufacturer). The UFH pipes are being placed in channels that are milled into the existing screed to depth of 16mm...

Uneven floors - self level or ply subfloor?

Thanks...just a bit wary of screwing down when there's ufh pipes below.....guess that can be overcome with care.

Uneven floors - self level or ply subfloor?

Thanks. Is that a recommendation for ply then?!

Uneven floors - self level or ply subfloor?

Hello all, Im after a bit of advice. We are doing an extension which will create a combined kitchen diner at the back of our house. All the downstairs floors are solid screed (house was built early 90s so should also have DPM under the screed and insulation under the slab I believe). We are...

Reducing screed height - best technique?

Aha - no not yet but this is partly why I want to do it. Looking at options the most economic way of doing UFH throughtout the downstairs is to get a company to mill out the grooves for the pipes.

    Duct size for cables

Presumably the size of the chinese finger quoted needs to match what cable/ item you want it to grip on to? So 13-16 for a 15.8mm od cable say?

Reducing screed height - best technique?

Ive recently been disappointed to find that the screeded floor height in my kitchen seems to be slightly higher (~8mm) than elsewhere in my downstairs, which is a bit of a bumber in terms of putting engineered wood flooring down throughtout... I dont particularly want to raise the heights of...

    Duct size for cables

Thanks for all previous advice Had one other question relating to this What would people recommend I use to physically attach the SWA to the blue poly rope in the ducts? I imagine it needs to be something that gain take alot of weight. Was thinking some kind of bolt on clap?? Any sugestions?

    Duct size for cables

The 3kw figure was a guesstimate before I checked the specs of the panels that have been suggested. They are 405w panels at 37v/ 11A each. So 6 in series actually results in 222V, at 11A thats 2.4kw. In reality you will rarely (if ever) get 2.4kw out of them at any point even at mid day in...

AC and DC conductors - OK in same ducting?

Related question to another post. I am planning a near future solar install. Rishi's £200 loan not enough to convince me otherwise! There will be a set of panels on my house that needs to run DC current to my garage 25 metres away. The voltage on the cables from this string will be approx 215v...

    Duct size for cables

Learning on the go. Just been doing some calcs. As the panels will be installed in series rather than parallel the voltage will be 216v, current will be max of 11amps. According to an online calculator 4mm2 (OD 5.2mm) DC cable is needed to take that current, so will be two of those (10.4mm...

    Unvented vs vented HW cylinder?

Cheers. We're probably going to disconnect all the downstairs rads in favour of UFH I suspect. Upstairs is alright and accessible if needs be. The pipes are only 30 years old, my last house had central heating pipes dating from the 70s and we pressurised that with no problems

    Duct size for cables

Thanks for that - yes it did seem a bit tight to me. Ive actually worked out Im going to need three cables (one for a 7kw EV car charger, and two to carry roughly 3kw each from future solar panels taking DC curent to the inverter stored in the garage, and one back the other way from the...

    Duct size for cables

Morning Im hoping to get a company to 'mole' in some SWA cables from my house to my garage - approx 25 metres length. These are going to be 6mm cables with a nominal outside diameter of 17.4mm, there will be two of them. Alternatively I mioght only need one 6mm and one 4mm (outside diameter...

    Unvented vs vented HW cylinder?

Thanks - youve confirmed what I thought - interestingly a new housing estate has been built near by recently. Think what I'll do is get the central heating pressurised but stick with a vented HW system pumped to the upstairs. Might as well replace the cylinder now though I think!

    Unvented vs vented HW cylinder?

Morning Had a very productive visit from two separate heating engineers yesterday to make a plan to finally knock my system into shape. Likely to be going down the route of pressurising the system to ensure it works better with wet UFH later this year in the downstairs. The second guy asked...

    WTF is going on?

Thanks - i did that - no air noise now all day from the pump - was rattling away yesterday. Bizarrely after turning boiler off for a while and then resetting it it seems to be working again as before. I dont really understand how the electrics all inter-relate it would seem...

    WTF is going on?

Hello all - Some of you may have read my previous posts about my woes relating to my knackered central heating system! Those of you who have previously replied to me will probably be glad to hear that I have a heating engineer coming tomorrow to take a look... Something odd has happened however...
